Description

This is my first full build in about 10 years. My last build had been slowly upgraded and parted out over time, and while it was still pretty good it was feeling it's age. I planned out what I wanted to do last July (2016) and slowly started picking up parts. At the last minute I switched from an Intel 7700k to a Ryzen, and I'm absolutely loving it with the extra cores!

This was my first build involving customizing the GPU. I've never taken one apart before and putting the Evga hybrid cooler on there was very nerve racking. It was all nerves though, it all went on very easily and the results are completely worth it - I don't see more than 50C when gaming!

My brother was a huge help in this letting me work through ideas with him, and suggesting that we paint the case - leading to the gold mesh you see in the pictures. Both him and my sister got me the M.2 drive as a gift as well, and as fast as this computer is, it's even faster because of that!

Because I've been imagining this PC for so long I called it the "Vision" build. I'm also a big fan of the MCU so, that helped as well.

Enjoy the pictures, and let me know if you have any questions about this build!

Absolutely Lovely Ryzen Build

People these days will be like: Are you really that old that you remember when Intel was better then AMD?

geoffg315 1 Build -2 points 8 days ago

oohhh wait except Intel processor's still perform better and the single core performance is still extremely better, so idk about that man.

KingKiller1759 1 Build 5 points 8 days ago

Do you work for Intel or something? Jesus, get off the fanboy train.

For pure power, Intel still does win. But for a price to performance standpoint, when comparing 8 core cpus, Ryzen is the clear and undeniable winner.

Electroman01 2 points 7 days ago

Nope. I am both an AMD fan and an Intel fan for different reasons

geoffg315 1 Build 0 points 7 days ago

No I am just a normal person LOL! And you are being a fanboy too...? Yes Ryzen is the winner in price to performance, except when you take two xeons and put them together for the same price as a Ryzen setup and they will perform better :)

KingKiller1759 1 Build 3 points 7 days ago

Lol. I'd be curious to see how you can get those prices to be the same.

geoffg315 1 Build -1 points 7 days ago

Two xeon 8 core processors- $280ish USD The dual cpu motherboard- $300ish USD

1800X- $460 Motherboard- $160ish

Xeons out perform bud

Kevidimus 1 Build -1 points 8 days ago

Not Ryzen 7 my friend, their price to performance for normal usage is significantly worse than Intel's, Ryzen 5 picks up the slack though

KingKiller1759 1 Build 2 points 8 days ago

Normal usage? What is your definition of normal use? I doubt anyone is buying 8 core cpus for some light web browsing.

Kevidimus 1 Build 0 points 8 days ago

Exactly, most people aren't content creators or media professionals, I just wish you'd realize this. AMD is good at what it does, but it doesn't appeal to a large audience, the majority of people would either go for the Kaby Lake Pentium for an easy build, or go for an I5 for a good gaming PC. Don't get me wrong I'm not against AMD but I wish you people would open your eyes to the reality of the situation for AMD. They don't appeal to the majority of users.

Kevidimus 1 Build 0 points 8 days ago

I mean, $500 for a processor is a lot to choke on, lol

Cmdr__Tim 3 points 8 days ago

Intel wins by 5% in some games, and ties in other games. When you start to stream, ryzen really takes the advantage, and wins by a large margin in editing. 5% more gaming power, 1/2 the power in everything else. Hmmmm

geoffg315 1 Build -2 points 7 days ago

The 7700k versus all of the Ryzen chips does not win by just %5, it is by at least 20-30 frames per game, don't pull stuff out of your *** like extreme fanboys. And if you take the 6800k and such they still perform better than Ryzen it is just the price for performance that Ryzen takes. It does not have 5% more gaming power and 1/2 at everything else, stop making up statistics.

Here is what you sound like but in reverse "HEU HEU HEU INTEL PERFORMS 400% BETTER THAN RYZEN BECAUSE I SAID SO"

confuzledandlost 26 Builds 2 points 8 days ago

Define "extremely better"... If you mean "5%-10% better in some but not all applications" then you'd be right lol

geoffg315 1 Build 0 points 7 days ago

No it is just better, open your eyes like the other guy said^^. It's like comparing a 7700k to the 22 core xeon, one is for gaming and one is for workstation/server/etc.

Electroman01 2 points 7 days ago

True that. But price to core ratio is a lot better in the Ryzen 7 compared to the 7700k

geoffg315 1 Build 0 points 7 days ago

It is not price to core ratio ever, it is price to performance. The single core performance of the 7700k blows the 1800X out of the water yet in multi core workstation style stuff it is the opposite, but the 7700k is best for gaming even though it only has 4 cores/8threads. That's like saying the 22 core xeon will out-perform the 7700k in gaming just because it has more cores.

Electroman01 1 point 7 days ago

I wasn't talking just about gaming. I get your point though

Seannnnnnn27 1 Build 5 points 8 days ago

manage your cables man

syg101 3 Builds 4 points 8 days ago

Awesome build! one thing i'd suggest is work on the cable management, as it is distracting from the overall aesthetic of the build. +1

Coolpick 4 points 8 days ago

Awesome build, but the cable management...

Great build, hope you enjoy what it provides as visions. +1 :)

bigbodyben 2 points 8 days ago

Diet Mountain Dew

LostElement 1 Build 2 points 8 days ago

Everything is solid except for the PSU :)

Nice build. Cable management can go a long way.

Chillsabre 1 Build 1 point 8 days ago

Nice build!

Note that your back fan is set as an intake rather than an exhaust right now.

Not sure if this was your plan.

thetortuga747 1 Build 1 point 8 days ago

Do you have a usage for it other than gaming?

Kevidimus 1 Build 1 point 8 days ago

A few things I noticed, I cringed at how close the magnetic bowl was to the graphics card because I know what one mistake could do, and two, the exterior of an antistatic bag is NOT anti-static, when working with the motherboard, place it on it's box.

Joiner21 5 Builds 1 point 5 days ago

I'm thinking about getting that hybrid cooler for my 1080Ti, but ow $160.

NightHawk7870 1 point 2 days ago

Nice build just need some cable management

philphaser 11 Builds 0 points 4 days ago

Now dat some cringeworthy cable mgmt.
