So here we are again. After my motherboard died a few weeks back I decided to do some upgrading and remodeling. And here I am to showcase the final product that is my computer as it stands today. Coding, some music listening and a bit of gaming.
*Case - Fractal Design Define S. One of the best budget cases that are just a plain pleasure to water cool in it. Very glad with my choice.
*CPU - Here I chose the Intel i7 5820k. Its a great processor if you need those extra two cores. Since I do a lot of video encoding, music editing, and coding, it was to my benefit to choose the 6 core over the latest i7 6700k. And I didn't get too unlucky being that my chip is able to hit 4.5Ghz.
*Motherboard - Since I was going for a theme here, I was left with not much of a choice. Not many black and white X99 motherboards out there... This MSI motherboard is okay though. It has all the bells and whistles needed to run a high end build such as this. I did have my previous one die which is the reason for the rebuild and upgrade of this build though. But the replacement seems to be chugging along just fine.
*Ram - At the time of purchase a lot of the popular DDR4 kits were out of stock... And initially I had purchased a set from Kingston that wouldn't allow my system to post unless I left all settings at the default which was much lower speed than the advertised speeds. So looked around and found this kit for not too much. Added in some light bars and it actually matched the system quite well.
*GPU - Ohter than my previous generation where I was rocking an Asus R9 290, I have always bought EVGA cards and they have never done me wrong... I could have bought the one without the back plate but at the time of purchase those were nowhere to be found. Also could have gone for the stock card instead of the SC but once again they were no where to be found. This one is working fine though. I wish I had gone a step further and got a card with dual 8 pin for that extra power but this one seems to be doing fine. Custom BIOS is allowing me to rock it at 1516/4257.
*SSD - Been using Samsung SSD drives for my past three generations and this time again I went with a 850 EVO for the main boot drive and programs, and a 840 EVO to run currently played games.
*HDD - For the mass storage I am rocking two WD Blacks. One is handling music, videos, pictures and documents while the other is rocking games not constantly played.
*Power Supply - The EVGA P2 series is rock solid. Great quality and performance. Went with 1000w to facilitate when I decide to get a second card.
*Accessories - NXZT Hue+, Ensourced Custom Cables for the GPU and 24 Pin, the rest are CableMods Custom cables.
*Loop - XSPC Raystorm Pro White CPU Block, XSPC Razor 980 Ti GPU Block, XSPC AX 360 and AX 240 White Radiators, Corsair SP 120 Quiet Editions (x6), Primochill PETG Tubing, Primochill Revolver Fittings, Assortment of Bitspower Extenders, adapters and what not, Alphacool Pump.
