If you follow the progression of my builds, I had a 970, then 980 Ti, then 980 Ti with Hybrid Cooler, then 980 Ti on a Custom Water Loop, then the 1080. :D

I upgraded from the 970 to the 980 Ti because I wanted a higher framerate while playing The Witcher 3. However, the 980 Ti ran extremely hot (hence the hunt for better and quieter cooling).

I would say that the 1080 has the performance of the 980 Ti (and then some) with the power and temperature characteristics of the 970. I am very happy with it!

If you're looking to overclock, though, you might be disappointed if you're used to the overclocks that the 900 series offered. Nonetheless, it is a great card.

Thanks! I do love the NCASE M1. And you're the first person I've heard call it "classy glassy", haha. I use distilled water with the silver coil because if anything leaks or spills (which actually happened while I was installing the 1080), I can just use compressed air and let it evaporate. :]

I had the exact same CPU OC @ 4.6GHz before I installed the 1080 and when I ran both Fire Strike runs. What makes you think I did otherwise?

It's supposedly an impossibly tight fit (1), but I might look more into it. If it works, I might also add the EK Monoblock. :)

1) You can see the temperatures on the left hand side of this PCPartPicker page. :)

2) "IN", the reservoir needs to be the source of water for the pump.

3) I have my pump on the CPU fan set to 40% (until the CPU gets to something high like 80C). This works out to be around ~1400RPM which is very quiet.

You may think so but this rig is powerful and it is NOT ugly. It's a great build.

Haha, it definitely does not show off the parts if that's what you mean. But I think the NCASE M1 was intentionally designed to be low profile and a bit more classy.

What's important is that it's small, has good performance, and isn't too loud.

Yeah. When I first saw those temperatures, I thought that maybe the waterblock had poor contact. But after inspection and reseating, looks like that's how it is. :\

I've been very tempted to try the EK-FB ASUS M6I monoblock, but I don't know where I'd put the pump. :[

Fairly confident. It wasn't stable at +150, but +125 was stable after some hours of Heaven. (Also tried the custom v/f curve, but it got too tedious.)
