Description

Use this build for gaming, web development, and general farting around.

It's been great, I originally had a GTX-670 in there but swapped it out for the 970. Now I never really have any noticeable FPS dips at 1080p.

It might be one of the ugliest color combinations out there, but it gets the job done.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU, price matched Microcenter at Best Buy (which they will do as long as you live a certain distance from a brick and mortar Microcenter) to get the best deal.

Motherboard

Pretty good MoBo, haven't had any issues with it. Was pretty easy to set up. Wish it had built in WiFi/bluetooth.

Memory

Solid RAM, maybe a little ugly, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Especially if the beholder is a 13 year old boy.

Storage

Great cheap SSD. People complain about the speeds in the amazon reviews, but people complain about everything.

Video Card

I bought this barely used. So far so good. Pretty much maxes out most games at 1080p 60 fps.

Power Supply

Super ugly. Non modular, but you can get it cheap, and it's been reliable.

Great build, I'd replace that Raidmax PSU ASAP. Other than that, +1 :)

I really could... but it's just so ugly that it's carved a special place in my heart. A special place that's particularly fond of electrical shorts and fires.

Mountain Dew & Ketchup

I don't mean to go off topic. Where's the Mountain Dew and Ketchup? I was curious if you placed them inside your computer and I agree with ImperiousBattlestar about the PSU needs to be swapped to something that is a quality, eventually when able to. Something like like Corsair's RMx or EVGA's B2/G2/G3/P2.

Otherwise, you have a nice rig, enjoy it. It should serve you well. Plus one.

the mtn dew and ketchup is a reference to the green PSU led and the red mostly everything else. But yeah i agree, get the raidmax out of there.

It's all good. I don't know how to make simple jokes with comments. They tend to work better when I say it to friends in person.
