This is my first build. I am a 15 year old who's friends with a group of computer savvy Freshmen that play a lot of CSgo. BEFORE CRITICIZING PART CHOICES!!!! I know this build is heavily impractical, I could have gotten way better performance for this price range and i know that, I just wanted the PC I worked so hard for to be mine, so i picked out the CPU and Graphics card that i needed then knowingly paid extra for the rest solely for cosmetics. This is going to be used solely for gaming and gaming only (and look nice i guess). Now I hope you like the Antec.
Part Rational: Antec (name): I got a job as a dishwasher to pay for this and the blue detergent is from Antec...so i found it fitting
AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core: 3.5 GHz of 8 core power, this thing OC's easy. Held a 4.0 OC with a temp of only 32 Celsius and multitasks like a champ.
Corsair H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler: Air coolers get the job done and id have similar results with a 212 EVO but when i saw the look of this thing matched with the temps it was getting.....$30 seemed kinda worth especially with the S340 begging for an AIO cooler.
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard: Saw that there was a blue Asus 990x motherboard for a decent price and then i got a shipping confirmation from newegg.
Team Dark 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory: THE PIC ON PC PART PICKER IS OLD. This ram has a sexy but really delicate heat sync and though many people haven't heard of Team I took the chance.
Kingston Fury 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive: Gotta love a good SSD for under $50, only to be used for OS and key programs I'm being gifted a 1 TB external drive for mass.
Sapphire Radeon R9 280X 3GB Vapor-X Video Card: Sapphire makes excellent AMD cards, vapor cards are said to run really cool and have a decent over clock, and this thing looks sweet with the MOBO.
NZXT S340 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case: Sturdy, clean, basement, big window, and it just so happened the blue was cheaper when I was shopping. I did one minor paint mod to the cable cover to die down the amount of blue.
Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply: Many reviewers trust Corsair with their power supply so i decided i would to. I bought this piece a little too early in the planning stage and if i could go back i would have gotten a 750 but oh well, I can't hear it anyway.
Corsair SP120 57.2 CFM 120mm Fan: They have bright LEDs and move air, mixed with Asus' FanXpert I can get these almost silent. These fans will last me a long time.
Blue LED Cathode: Got to go to a Microcenter storefront and wanted to leave with SOMETHING in my build for the feels. I had the BRIGHT idea...no? ok....well i thought of putting it behind that metal wire cover for sweet lighting since the S340 is all window there is no place to hide a lightsaber and it turned out great.
Ubuntu: Do not have the money for windows and just wanted to try something new. Having fun so far and its a great substitute if all you do is play games on the Source engine and watch Youtube.
I hope you enjoy my build, i put a lot of work into getting it and I think she looks even better than the soap.
