Description
My first build - despite many delays, I finally completed it this morning.
CPU /// The i5 is fantastic; super fast for normal stuff, brilliant in gaming - see the last image for temps - runs around 25 degrees usually - max 50 when intense gaming.
CPU Cooler /// It's good, it seems to keep it cool - no overclock however and it was a * to install, the only mistake I made was slighlty wobbling it too much trying to get the pins to line up - not excessively however.
Motherboard /// Nice! It changed the boot order automatically to my usb for windows installation that way, and auto after removal - very fast, very easy to use. The only thing is I had to go into the BIOS to alter the usb power settings as power was still being supplied to my keyboard/mouse on turn off and obviously with lights this is annoying.
Storage /// The BX100 is fast, transfer is quick, windows is speedy, boot up time is so fast it's waiting for me even before the monitor has turned on! WDCB - Nice amount of storage, use it for everything non-essential plus backup.
Video Card /// Excellent - MGS 5 runs at 60fps 1080p no dips as I've seen so far - only other I've tried is Subnautica which is usually above 110fps 1080p maxed. I know it's overkill - I'm getting a better monitor soon guys don't get mad! 1440p 144hz probably.
Case /// Lovely, solid, heavy! I like that, some won't but I like the obvious build quality - dust filters a plenty, plenty of cable management options and space.
Power Supply /// It's 80plus Gold rated and modular - lovely sleeved cables, easy to work with, looks sexy.
Additional /// Windows 8.1 Pro for student - £50 for anyone in uni, do it! Antistatic wriststrap just in case! The keyboard and mouse are great, as only £20 they do the job until I can get a mechanical Speakers are good, nothing special but I have a razer chroma for gaming.
Overall /// I enjoyed this, my cable management could be better but for a first attempt it's okay, I'll go back and tidy more when my cable ties come in the post. Despite the recent Nvidia "scandal" the card is great, it will continue to be great and honestly, I love that AMD are back in the running.
Part Reviews
CPU
Nice and fast - lovely all round - not too hot unlike some reviews have said
CPU Cooler
A pain to install but affordable and keeps it cool
Motherboard
Loved the motherboard - the BIOS was easy to use however the shield though was finicky to fit into the ports of the MOBO.
Memory
RAM - what more can you say, looks good too
Storage
It's HDD storage - so yeah - 930gb format size on mine however, 70gb is a big loss! No big deal though
Video Card
Incredible - every game, maxed out - 60fps guaranteed - if you're at 1080p expect 100fps
Case
Very easy to work with, loved the build quality - immense cable management
Power Supply
Good power supply - not too many reviews out for this on pcpartpicker yet but it's gold 80 plus rated, should last a long time fingers crossed
