Description

I use this computer for mining Litecoin. The 3 R9 270s work well and get me about 495khash/sec each.

I do believe that getting the HX850 PSU was a bit overkill. I probably should have gotten the HX750 for $30 less. The ASRock H81 Pro BTC motherboard was a good choice. It was cheap and good quality.

In total, I spent about 7 hours putting this PC together. It was a good experience.

The amount of crypto currency that I am getting won't get me to break even unfortunately but it was still a good experience. I might not be getting much out of it but it was a good experience to build this computer.

if you aren't going to be making a profit, why mine? You just build a gaming PC and have fun that way.

My dumb self went out and bought a case for like 70$ when i couldve just used crates this whole time !!!!

The case is overkill, You would be getting better bang for your buck if you used a cardboard box.

Pretty sure you could sell those milk crates for more than you can earn with this, but oh well.

That's great.

Do you have any advice for someone to build a budget mining rig?

I'm just now putting together my new computer.

Gigabyte Z270-HD3P, Kaby Lake Pentium G4560, and 16 GB's of G.Skill 3200 Ripjaws DDR4 RAM

I don't have a GPU suitable for mining yet, but will be shopping for one soon.

My intention is to use this in off hours to mine until I can save up for a new Rysen rig, then dedicate it to mining.

What should I be looking for in a new GPU for mining?

Thanks!

Well tbh how much mining will you b doin ... Round the clock or randomly

Well, the plan is to get this new computer up and running - almost there. It will be used for daily chores and once I get a suitable GPU, used to mine when not otherwise engaged.

Next project will be to build a Rysen rig, then dedicate the Z270 rig to full-time mining, adding more GPU's as I can afford them.

So, right now, I'm looking to add an affordable GPU that will make a few dollars.

I'm on a pretty limited income these days, thus the long-term planning.

you built this rig when Litecoin was worth $5 now its near $200, this rig could make you nearly $1000/ mnth at that hash rate https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/ltc?HashingPower=1495&HashingUnit=MH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=600&CostPerkWh=0.20&MiningPoolFee=10
