My 2nd build (still don't know squat about the more technical aspects of PC building though). Chose the new parts mostly for their aesthetics first and performance boost (hopefully) second. Ended up buying a new EVOLV Shift case ($50 hit after selling the riser cable) since I messed up on the painting in the 1st case (will repurpose it into a figure display case). Never cheap out on the spray paint. Use Testor paint (easier to apply and looks/feels natural; no cracking effect whatsoever) and avoid Rustoleum/Krylon (looks/feels cheap like there's a layer of paint on the surface, kept getting cracking effects). I'll probably be adding a custom RGB backplate for the GPU in the future to hide all that silver.

CPU + Motherboard: i5 6500 + Asus STRIX z270i with the RYZEN 5 2600 + Asus STRIX x470i
Went with AMD for my new build since mobo choices were slim and ASUS' x470i looked aesthetically better and easier to build in this case than their z390i. The x470i having USB 2.0 header is a plus. Pretty happy with the switch so far, but I have noticed that it takes a little bit longer for the screen to turn on after pressing the power button compared to Intel.
Cooling: Cryorig C7 replaced with the NZXT Kraken M22
Decided to finally make the switch to an AIO primarily for aesthetics. Since I have RGB lighting in the case, the Cryorig would always have this annoying peppermint candy swirl look to it whenever it was spinning on low RPM. The M22 is cooled by a 140mm Noctua Chromax that also acts as the only case intake fan (radiator sits flush and doesn't need to be screwed down. just use something to act as a wedge to keep it from sliding into the side fan). Bought a 2-3ft right angle mini usb cable to route to the mobo IO to power the RGB because the USB 2.0 port is occupied by the AER cable.
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB replaced with the G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB
Because RGB. A literal pain to install because of the jagged edges on top of the RAM.
GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 1070 Founders Edition replaced with Nvidia RTX 2070 Founders Edition
The 2070 is a lot louder than the 1070 on idle, but also runs a lot quieter when gaming. The idle noise is to be expected with both fans running consistently at 1500 rpm on the 2070 all the time. Luckily the fans are only really noticeable when it's whisper quite and regular volume music/gaming easily drowns it out. The 2070 temps are a vast improvement over the 1070 blower.
PSU: Corsair SF 450 Gold replaced with Corsair SF600 Platinum
Didn't want to skimp out on the PSU considering the GPU and made the upgrade to SF600 for more headroom. The sleeved cables that come with the Platinum SF600 is way too short for the case, but luckily I had some CableMod cables from my 1st build. The Corsair cables are more suited for something like the Node 202. The only cables that came with the PSU that I was able to use were the motherboard and SATA cables.
Case Fans: x2 Noctua NF-A12x15 replaced with NZXT AER RGB Ver.2 Starter pack
Noctua doesn't make slim 140mm fans and there's not enough room to add RGB fan frames to regular Noctuas so I got the AER 2s. You don't get AER fans and not use the "pretty side" so both side fans are set to exhaust even though there's probably better fan setups. The upgrade also shed a bunch of cables from the case (Silverstone fan hub and 3 Phanteks Halos RGB fan frames)
Case: Phanteks ENTHOO EVOLV Shift (replaced with a brand new one of the same case)
The Phanteks riser cables had a bad reputation so I bought a riser cable from AliExpress when I ordered my 1st case which haven't given me any issues with the GTX or RTX. The narrower riser cable seems to be the one with the bad rep and came with my 1st case. My 2nd case came with a wider riser cable (better one?) that looks similar to the one in my current build.
The SSD mounts. You don't need them and they get in the way of the riser. Remove both of them and use some 3M dual lock fasteners (non-foam) instead to mount your SSDs.
If you want less cable clutter under the top lid, you can remove the SATA cable (powers the LED on top of the lid that you'll never see) and LED splitter from under the power button. Only need the power switch cable.
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Lux Cherry Red replaced with Corsair K70 RGB Mk.2 Cherry Brown
Couldn't stand the clicking and feel of the Cherry Red K70 so I made the switch to the newer Cherry Brown K70 which is a lot better to use/type and has more RGB as a bonus.
All-in-all, it'll probably end up costing about $500 to make the hardware changes after selling the old parts.
Using my case's 140mm Noctua intake fan to cool the radiator and satisfied with my Ryzen temps. Hose should've been a bit shorter for a 120mm radiator. The universal backplate doesn't sit flush against the mobo and should've been individual backplates for AMD and Intel instead.
Does the job and inaudible since I installed it. The sleeved cables are a nice touch, but you'll probably need to buy a set of cables if you have anything bigger than a Node 202 or Dan Case. I've only been able to use the mobo and SATA cable in my case.
