I built this PC primarily for Starcraft II, but I also do a fair amount of simulation, data manipulation, and data visualization in MATLAB, in addition to everyday tasks like writing and internet browsing. So far I'm really happy with how everything turned out. The build went really smoothly, except for the fact that my h100i arrived later than everything else. I put the intel cooler on for about a week in the meantime, then pulled the thermal paste, and put on the corsair cooler when it arrived. All of the components seem really solid, especially the PSU, case, peripherals, and monitor. I loved building in the micro ATX 350D, I feel like it helped solve a lot of problems that new builders have with cable management and cooling. For 1 GPU, <5 drive builds, it easily fits everything, and has really great air flow and cable management tie downs/grommets. I initially installed a Debugged/checked version of Windows 7 Pro on the machine for free because my university has an agreement with Microsoft, but apparently Debugged/checked means it won't let you install any software! It took my friend and I a couple hours to trouble shoot what was going on, but it's running well now with a normal version of Windows 7 Pro, which was also free. The GPU/CPU chunk through ultra graphics on Starcraft with no problems at all, and the h100i keeps the CPU between 3 and 10 degrees cooler than the intel fan did. 26.5C when idling, up to about 32C on maxed graphics Starcraft. The whole case runs completely silent, except slight fan noise at high load, which I can't hear because of the game sound and clicky brown switch keys. I haven't overclocked yet, but I'll try to take it up a little bit just to see what it can do (hopefully then I can max out my Windows Experience Index!). Overall, I think it's a balanced build that performs well above my actual needs at a reasonable price, and looks great while still being subtle. The peripherals feel really well built, the thin bezel on the monitor makes for a really nice look, and the 5.1ch audio sounds amazing. Thanks to everybody on PCPP for all the help choosing components and giving me build tips along the way. The site and community are the best!

Get some lights for the case! haha looks good!

Haha, that might be just what I need. Any suggestions?

NZXT hue RGB controller its $30 and you can make the inside of your case any color you want

TheInfamousR 3 Builds 1 point 68 months ago

My NZXT hue lasted 16 hours then blue burned out, then everything burned out. My Bitfenix alchemy connects are still going strong.

Enlyten 1 Build 0 points 68 months ago

I doubt the actual LEDs burnt out. There was probably a loose connection.

SparkyOnPC 1 point 68 months ago

that's what I was thinking aswell

TheInfamousR 3 Builds -1 points 68 months ago

No, there was not. I know what I'm doing and am one hundred percent sure they were fully connected. They were working fine for a few hours then the blue stopped responding upon starting up my system next morning, red and green worked fine for awhile, then returned it all together.

No problems with Bitfenix connects and my tiny 30mm strip lights up the case more than the NZXT hue did, laughable.

Believe what you want but after so many problems with NZXT products the hue was the last straw for me.

Bitfenix alchemy connect led strips. Or nzxt sleeved led strips.

Some bitfenix LEDs are nice

Or if you wanna have an awesome lighting system Phoyba has a pretty sick one

Nice build, very classy indeed. How do you like Corsair H100i? Do you find it noticeably quieter than an air cooler? Any noticeable sound from the pump and/or fans? I have similar build with a CoolerMaster Hyper 212X and thinking of going for a liquid cooler. Many thanks.

qcb5007 submitter 1 Build 1 point 67 months ago

It's definitely louder at startup, but once it settles in the water cooler is very quiet. During gaming, I think it does get a little bit louder, and might be slightly louder than an air cooler in that case, but the game sound drowns it out, and it keeps the CPU much cooler than my air cooler did.

Many thanks. Will definitely consider this for my next upgrade to my build.

Also, I just realized I forgot to update this parts list with the correct SSD. I switched to a Samsung 840 at the last minute because the Sandisk Newegg reviews were a bit low. In the end I just payed the extra $6 for a little peace of mind.

Hakumisoso 2 Builds 2 points 68 months ago

I did the same thing, although i paid like an extra $30-40 for the pro version.

Very nice build. I like how you managed the cables going to the GPU. It's hard to do that well when the plug is in the middle.

dalethezombie 2 Builds 1 point 68 months ago

i like! nice choice in parts! and the cables look neat!

Only 31 degrees and 36 degrees as your load temps? Is this just an average usage load or test? Well nice build, can't go wrong with a 760.

I have this case myself and absolutely adore it, how did you feel about the H100i blocking of your 1st dimm slot?

qcb5007 submitter 1 Build 1 point 68 months ago

Doesn't really bother me at all, since I don't use that slot for anything. I think the only thing I might put there is a card reader or something, and that wouldn't be deep enough to be blocked anyway.

'but siiiir he copied me!'

nice build!
