Finished Build - Code Name: Ryoko

by Celticg

Hey Peeps, Just posting the finished product of my PC. It's something I been dreaming of putting together but never did until now. Parts I used and what I think of them are below. Let me know what you think :D

Part Reviews

THIS THING IS A BEAST. Can be overclocked to a stable 5GHz with water cooling (I let mines sit at a nice 4.8ghz). Temps can get kinda high but that's my only concern. Highest I ever hit was 79c other then that, no issues at all with it.

CPU Cooler

Relatively easy to install, Near silent, Looks great, and can dissipate a ton of heat. One minor issue is depending on the MB you use, it can block almost block the usage of the 1st RAM slot on the MB so be careful which MB you pick when buying this cooler. Also, CAM is terrible.

Very easy instructions for install. Mystic Lights are pretty good (lots of color options). BiOS is easy to use and navigate. All pins and PCIE connections are sturdy so shouldn't have any issues with stuff breaking.

XMP setting performs flawlessly and as advertised. Only issue is the RAM sticks don't sync up with each other and there is no way to make it do that.

Four seconds to install, boots Win 10 Pro in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes I don't even see the Windows logo lol

Video Card

This thing is a beast in terms of power. No games I can't run with easy 60fps or more in 1080p and when pushed for 1440p with HDSR, it still gives 60fps easy. Love the LED schemes. Only issue is the size but that's extremely minor.

This is an awesome case. It looks great, has maybe the best cable management I've seen, and has tons of sound dampening features. From the rubber feet in all of the HDD bays to the rubber rings around the side window screws, sound-dampening foam on almost every surface, etc. this case was obviously designed to sit on top of your desk and be quiet there. It delivers.

Power Supply

Awesome power supply. Came with every cable possible. Very quiet also.

Extremely good monitors. Have both HDMI, VGA, and DVI port.

Love this keyboard. Build quality is fantastic, while there were some issues in the initial setup, the keyboard has functioned perfectly. The keyboard won't save profiles to the internal memory correctly out the box but with the recent update, it's been good.

May your frames be high, and your temps low.

Did you get the PC name from Kill La Kill? Because I love that anime :D

Great build overall! Even I noticed a Mega Man amiibo inside the build.

Celticg submitter 1 Build 3 points 24 months ago

Yup and Ryoko from Tenchi Muyo. Tenchi Ryoko being my favorite anime character of all time and Kill La Kill Ryoko being just as awesome.

Mad_Dog7 1 Build 2 points 24 months ago

Excellent choice, Though Sasami/Tsunami was my favorite character.

Hey nice build mate!

I'm looking at buying the Asus Strix gtx1080 OC (O8G) like yours but have read a tonne of bad reviews about their fans and defecting. They're apparently very loud and either spin like crazy and at different speeds or not at all :/

Any news on how yours is going?

TIA :)

I heard the same but mines has been pretty good. I have been playing FFXIV and For Honor recently and under load, the fans do get kinda loud but the music and gameplay drown it out. I hardly hear anything when the fan is between 40%-60% but after that, it is noticeable. I haven't had any defects or issues with mines as of yet and it's been 4 - 5 months of gaming every day for 5+ hours. I will say it's an awesome card.

Hey! :)

Yeah unless somewhere local sells their remaining OC ones for cheap I'll probably just get the Ti version instead I think, they're only like $200-250 more haha

Thanks for the reply :D

Hows your ram fit with your cpu cooler? I'm debating getting a x62

Celticg submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

They fit in ok but the x62 does push up on the first slot. It will be a tight fit.

Amazing Build! Props to you on that!

P.s. I was wondering, how did you hook up three monitors to the GPU since there is only 2 of each port native to it?

Celticg submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

Thanks! The card I'm using the Asus GTX 1080 Strix. The card has 2 HDMI, 2 DP and 1 DVI. I use the 1 HDMI, 1 DP and 1 DVI as normal and the monitors pick up all 3. The DP is connected to a DP to HDMI Active Adapter so that will kick in on the 3rd monitor.

KHOA 2 points 16 months ago

Celticg submitter 1 Build 1 point 16 months ago

Thanks lol sorry for the late response but the mount was just a normal one from Amazon. It works pretty good I must say. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006JG9RQ2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
