Description

Mainly use this to game and 'work' at home, although I get side tracked easy so not really sure how much working from home I will accomplish.

Really was going for a good Black & Blue build with this one and wanted to keep it under $1250 but got a little carried away.

Everything on the build went well, but I am having some flickering on my second monitor with this build and haven't had a lot of time to work that out yet.

I am going to get around to overclocking the CPU but haven't gotten to it yet.

UPDATE: Found the GPU PCI-E cables and got the GPU cables cleaned up, thanks for all the input on that everyone. I uploaded a couple of pictures showing the cleaned up wires.

I come to pcpartpicker often; although i haven't created an account until now. Why is everyone so negative this morning? holy crap.

Christ, people are negative today! Anyway, not a bad build for the money OP at all. I'd have chosen some different parts personally (h80i over the h75, 980 instead of 970, Samsung 850 EVO/Pro over the crucial etc) but all the parts you picked are more than adequate, and are far from a bad choice. When you get around to overclocking, I'd recommend running a stress test with Aida64/Prime95 for at least 12 hours with the clock you'd have; if it fails once, then dial back the clock/voltage a bit until it's stable for the whole 12 hours. There's a great Linus video with tips for overclockers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBfXruwe8w4

This build is great all the same, and it should be awesome for you! Have fun with it!

Thanks for the overclocking advice. I looked at the 980, but couldn't justify the price at this time :(

Good build for the money. Not gonna say anything about the Molex to PCI Express adapters, but you should consider picking up some.

aggieweather don't worry about what they're saying about this build, its great for a first build definitely. Ya, the CPU block is a little off and that adapter needs fixing, but neither of those will affect performance. That's why you build a PC anyway right ?

+1 Nice build! How do you like that Motherboard, btw? Looking at it myself for a future Z97 build. :)

Not bad, fairly similiar to mine. You should definitely route the cables through the back (Check out mine). Your case has excellent cable management. Good luck with the OC!

Your psu should've came with the pcie cables. I'd suggest using those rather than the molex adapters. It'll look a little cleaner too.

Edit: I now see that you don't have the cables, I take my comment back.

Nice guy checking in! I think it's a great build for the money, the 4690k + GTX 970 combo was a good choice for the intended purpose!

With regards to the PCIe PSU connectors, you can purchase them from Newegg for your specific model at this link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812527001 Also, don't be afraid to utilize some of the H440's great cable management options!

Other than that I love the color scheme and be sure to take more pictures if you end up rotating the CPU cooler!

Looks great in my opinion! BTW... The h75 has a blue ring to go on the cpu block, i suggest doing that (but be careful, I've heard it's hard to take off).

That sideways cpu block is really bothering me. Otherwise, nice build.

Yup, I didn't notice it till it was on. It kinda bothers me as well, probably gonna get that rotated tonight.

That power supply should have had some in the box with it. Other than that. Good build +1.

You probably should have spoken to the retailer about that. Four of them should have come in the box along with all the other modular cables.
