Description

My third build...mostly used for Excel and Word Processing with an occasional YouTube session.

Intel i9-9900K - Got is stable to 5.1 GHz with a -3 AVX offset on 1.275 volts. Crushes all the macros I use in Excel.

Corsair H100i RGB Platinum - Works fine with my low ambient temperature...keeps the temps around 33C idle and around 60C gaming. Would get a 360 rad if I lived somewhere warmer.

Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero - Got it for a steal and I am very comfortable with the Asus BIOS. Read a bunch of people on the interwebs were complaining about the VRM on these motherboards not being a true 8 phase but if you aren't doing competitive overclocking, I wouldn't worry about it even with the 9900K.

G.Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 - Recycled from my last build. Love this RAM.

Crucial MX500 1TB M.2 - Storage for OS and most of my apps. It's speedy and affordable.

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD - Some more recycled parts from my last build. Have two of these in RAID 0 for my Steam Library.

Hitachi Travelstar - Don't know where this came from (maybe my PS4 pro) but use it as a backup drive.

EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - My wife got this for me for Christmas (she's the best). Zero stutter watching YouTube videos at 720p.

Corsair Crystal 460X - The case from my last build. I really like the aesthetics of this case but a huge pain to cable manage if you have a bunch of wires.

Corsair HX1000i - Picked this up on the cheap from Craigslist. Great power supply.

Corsair LL120 Fans - Had these on my last build. Great looking fans but there are definitely better fans out there in terms of airflow.

Asus ROG Swift PG348Q - I've had this monitor for a while. Love the ultrawide aspect ratio and the slight curve of it. Could never go back to 16:9.

Corsair Strafe RGB keybord/Sabre RGB mouse - Had these for a while too. Mainly use them because I'm stuck in the corsair ecosystem now.

Thanks for looking!

No way can this thing handle both Word AND Excel open at the same time! Should have gone for the Titan RTX! What were you thinking?!?

  • 3 points

Ikr, I got the Titan RTX to run Fornite. That's some real usage at least.

  • 2 points

But the Real Question is........ Can it run Crysis

  • 2 points

I dunno I tried to blend it before running Crysis and now it doesn't work anymore.

Still a waste of electricity.

No, Two titans is a waste of electricity. One is just fine.

Your wife should be a paid consultant to other wives of pc gamers. My wife has never bought me a gpu. :(

You're not alone, I had to go to war against my wife when I bought two 1080Ti. Obviously I won the battle, but the war goes on.

Excel. And word processing. Thats it. That PC is probably the MOST overkill PC for that kind of workload. And I love it! Awesome build, best gaming hardware has to offer!

If i would of built this, i would say my main use is playing minesweeper and solitaire just to be "that guy"

I'm no expert, but I think each core equals one tab of Google Chrome. 40Ghz/8tabs=5.0Ghz. Just under max load

What sort of fps are getting in Word with this thing? Awesome build!

easy 60wps depending on the hpu (human processing unit)

110 in my case lol.

Can this run Minesweeper at 144p 10fps?

  • 1 point

tbh, this can support maximum 360p but at a decent 1hz refresh rate

  • 1 point

really? i was getting only 0.28756hz refresh rate at 72p!

  • 2 points

its prob because i have overclocked my cpu multiplier to 1000 and it is running at 10ghz. Also, the rtx 2080 ti is overclocked to +5000mhz on the core clock and +20000mhz on the memory clock and it is now on 7ghz on the core and 34ghz on the memory. The gpu is running at a good -1 kelvin using a new substance that is colder than absolute zero.

  • 1 point

I think i went to far, I should downclock it by 1ghz on everything so that I can run at -5 kelvin.

  • 1 point

no no, just get a 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 rad you'll get your cpu down to -42069 kelvin

I'm assuming this is a troll, but at that point you're paying 100$/year for Office 365, while spending 4.8K on a PC. That's some dedication for Microsoft if anything else.

Very cool. In my opinion, two-tone setups like those are where RGB shines. The default "rainbow" looks so hectic to me.

So clean! And that CPU is golden if it's truly stable at 5.1 GHz @ 1.28v

  • 1 point

CPU is a gem. 5.2 is doable on 1.315 volts but temps start getting a little toasty

  • 1 point

Surprised you need the AVX offset - there are some who would say that if you need to have an offset, the OC is not fully stable.

  • 1 point

Beautiful +1

  • 1 point

I don't know, man. I think you need more RGB. Seems to be slacking a little bit. ;)

In all seriousness though, that's a really beautiful build. Very well done. +1

Great looking build and solid specs! How is that case for air flow? Nice build man! +1 Congrats on the feature. I do have one question, the pane lights on the wall, they correspond with the PC and the lighting?

  • 1 point

Fantastic build! I'm also curious about your overclocking settings to reach 5.1Ghz with 9900K (all BIOS settings basically).

I started trying overclocking this morning and I only get poorer performances when I use my own settings. I must be missing something somewhere but I have no idea what :D

What is your GPU temps and fan speed at 124% power limit and can you confirm its generating 360w + ? Mine is ridiculously hot.

I don't get really get over 60c on the temps but I have a chilly house. I have a custom fan curve that cranks up to 60% at 60c. It's not quiet
