Description

Gaming, VR, Work

Sourced most parts from Amazon and New Egg. I plan on Water Cooling but am going to wait a month or two. This was my first build and I did it by watching YouTube Videos. Almost everything I needed I was able to find there. I had to figure out how to do some of the cabling and plugins on my own but most of that was pretty straight forward.

If you are wondering if you can do it, you can. Just dive in and have some fun with it.

Here are a few notes:

Keyboard is loud AF. I wish I would have read in one of the many reviews that the number 1 gaming keyboard sounded like a chicken eating seed on a wood floor.

Headphones are not compatible with the DAC. This one drives me crazy. Same company, and in one review I read the reviewer said they were great together. But the headphones come only with a USB connector and all the USB to 3.5 jacks have horrible reviews.

ASUS motherboard is difficult to add current drivers if you do not add a cd/dvd drive. Yes you can download them from their website but this is not simple. They only come in CAP files and all the software to open comes with big warnings. If you are not a super confident PC person (I am coming back after over 10 years on Mac) this is very intimidating.

Adding the second GPU was not as simple as the videos suggest. When I first added the SLI I booted to a black screen. After removing the second to uninstall the drivers, I could not get the first to boot. I remover that, added the second and it did boot. Then I undated the drivers, add the first on to the second slot, and booted clean.

Can it run Meltdown tho?

There's a new version of Meltdown coming soon....Minesweeper Meltdown. Apparently it's quite resource intensive so don't think this build would run it

Yes! And it can handle mine sweeper too! Seriously though, I just got my Vive and loaded Doom. **** me. It is perhaps the coolest thing I have ever seen.

You didnt buy a DAC my dude you bought an amp (unless you forgot to add it to your list). Standalone DACs can't be plugged into headphones straight up they need to connect to an amp via RCA. The amp you linked has to be connected to your PC via USB then you hook your headphones up to them. I'm not sure if your mic will work through them though. Basically: PC ---> Amp ---> Headphones, or if you had a separate DAC: PC ---> DAC ---> Amp ---> Headphones.

Exactly. The problem was the Amp did not have a USB slot and those headphones were USB only. I ultimately returned them and bought the HD 650 headphones, an Audio Technica mic, and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo. I am much happier with this set-up!

Very nice selection of components! But could you add more and bigger pictures? That case really offers options!!

Thank you. I'll try to add more photos tonight. I got the case mostly because I was planning on water cooling but went overboard with my spend so I am going to wait a month. lol

Why the H100i V2? Why not the Kraken x62 AIO?

The reviews on both were about the same. In the end, I knew it would be temp as I am (ultimately) going to water cool, so I went with the less expensive option.

How's Aura Sync with your G.Skill RAM? I read a lot of SPD corruption issues when trying to change the colors. Awesome build!

Thanks. Aura is horrible. I prefer a single color, and while I finally was able to achieve this, it took me a few days to get it right.

You and I have very similar build, I give you a +1 for this!

Check out my build if you have the time. I am thinking about going SLI with the 1080ti, how has your experience been? https://pcpartpicker.com/b/pRKBD3

I highly suggest that you buy a new case and switch the water cooling fans to the front (in), add a rear fan (out) and 2 at the top (in or out - u should test it) just look for push / pull config.
