Description

Wanted to refresh my pc and have a smaller one. But also loved the look of the new coolermaster q300p! The only parts that I kept from the first build were the i7-8700 because there is no need to upgrade to the latest generation that was just released. The difference in performance and price is a joke. I went with a 1060 6gb for a few reasons. I plan on gaming on my pc now but budget was a concern, the rtx 2060 may not be out this year, and a 1060 6gb will run 1080p in most games with no problem for now. In the future, I will move to a more powerful gpu for some 4k action. I plan on doing this when I finish college this semester and can afford it. This total refresh cost just under 300 bucks! I sold my old parts for a decent price (they only were 5ish months old) and bought the new ones at a good sale price! The last pictures are a little Halloween theme lol check it out!

for your keyboard when you want to change the rgb lights on it do you need to download a software to do it or is it a macro like f12 of something like that to change it? (+1 nice build)

Yeah its done by the keys FN(F1,F2,F3,F4,F5,F6,F7) each do different things. I do love the keyboard, but it would be much better If it could sync with asus rgb software. I would go that route ! And thanks! might add an rgb strip not sure how I feel about it yet.

Ok thanks I was thinking of using the keyboard in a build of mine and I wasn't sure about it. Also ya the build has some rgb but like come on, its 2018. I recommend these https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-CL-9011109-WW-Lighting-Node-PRO/dp/B01MYDTC2C/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1542393467&sr=1-1 they are abit pricy but the colors are amazing.

See now I wanted to buy those, but I'm just afraid that the colors wouldn't totally match the colors that I have for all of my cooler master products. My next build I plan on using all corsair ! Although I really do love the look of the cooler master case that I have...

they are RGB they have 16.8m colors they have to have the same colors you just need to find it.

Hows that CPU cooler working out? I had the same CPU cooler and CPU and changed the CPU cooler after like 4 days. It was way too loud and it didn't work well. It made my CPU really hot. I upgraded and got the 8086k and Kraken x52 now.

I did just put this together and have only played fortnite so far. Temps for the cpu haven't passed 55. It does keep it cool and there is some noise, but not unbearable. Around the holidays when I have the time to play more intense games, I imagine this will not be the best cooler. Looks nice, but not the best. I will probably move to a aio as well, the airflow in this case also is an issue and doesn't help. I didn't think I would need to since it was a locked processor, but 8th gen runs pretty hot.

Agreed! nice builds

Here are the shelves, they can be bought in-store where the picture frames are. I used 3M double sided wall tape to hang them.

how loud are the Cooler Master MasterFan Pro 120 Air Balance RGB 42.7 CFM 120mm? saw some reviews and some where contradicitng

So I think the case is what plays the part in the noise or not. Here is why, in my Q300p case, I have 2 of the fans in the top of the case and the airflow or area for the air to escape is very very limited. Every time the fans increase in speed or warm up, they are noticeably loud and kind of annoying. The rear exhaust fan even at max speed doesn't make noise that will drive you crazy.. hence the airflow is a lot more open. So I think it depends on your case really. If you have good airflow then the noise wont be obnoxious. I can make a video if you would like.

Can you tell me what mini screen you used for the cam app and is it on an HDMI connection, it looks really good; I was actually looking at the rgb ssd in your build.

Its called the geeekpie, here is where I got it: https://www.amazon.com/GeeekPi-Monitor-Resistive-Interface-Raspberry/dp/B01L6O2NEE/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1543890353&sr=8-3&keywords=geeekpi

It is an HDMI connection for display, but a mini usb for power.

The ssd is sweet! Tforce delta, should be pretty cheap now, I have the 500gb black

Are you able to install more ram without the fan blocking it?

Based on my experience, I wouldn't go for it. Although I do think its possible and it will be difficult. If you get a full size atx board it probably wont be as difficult.

Hello,

One question that i have had in mind, i am building a PC with this case and i wanted to know if there is a difference between Top fan positioning, i have noticed that some builders mount them inside the acrylic panel, some others mount them inside the case (above the Mobo). Is there any noticeable difference?

  • 1 point

Hi, mounting the fans on the outside of the case causes a lot of noise and it gets pretty annoying. I would try both and see what you like best. I have recently turned off my top fans. This case has terrible airflow. My cooler doesn't keep my cpu cool and my gpu reaches 80 degrees at times. I would go with a liquid cooler. 120mm would do fine

  • 1 point

Well i will try to see how i fix those issues but if it does not work i think i will use the case without the acrylic panels and hope that Cooler Master comes up with something to fix this issue, something like an open panel with dust filters or some sort of modification on it to improve airflow while still looking good.

I recently put 2 1500 rpm fans one intake and one exhaust and set them both to full speed through the bios and noticed better temps

I will build and see what my results are and then will look for solutions if i see any thermal issue(which i think i will xD).
