This is my first build so be gentle. Some of these parts were purchased almost a year ago (CPU, Ram, Mobo), so that definitely affected my choices. Do i love my comp? Yes. Would i do things differently? Yes.
I mainly use this for gaming and media storage. I also do light editing from time to time.
The 4790k is awesome. i can have a million chrome tabs open, stream to twitch, download whatever (legal) torrents i want, and i can still play JC3 on ultra 1080/60p. i think i got a good chip, I'm at 4.849GHz @1.121vcore. i was able to push it to 4.94GHz @1.26vcore, but i dialed it back. i don't want it running at redline 24/7. maybe i can push it past 5 after a delid
I Love Me some Corsair, keeps my 4790k cool, and happy. stock fans were louder than i liked, So i threw some corsair sp140s and now its whisper quiet.
Cant beat asus quality on a mobo. rocksteady power delivery for pushing your chip to the limit. kind of wished i had sprung for the formula, but the hero is awsome.
Same kit is $100 cheaper now, so im a little salty about that, but it looks cool, and it dosnt care if i mess with the BCLK.
The Arc 100 was on a good sale and i was running out of space. no complaints, nice and fast. i mainly use it for my steam library.
850 evo is pretty hard to beat for the price. windows loads in about 7 seconds, and i never see loading screens on skyrim anymore (JC3 still takes forever but what can you do).
The Seagate i pulled from an external drive i had lying around. its slow, but it only has movies/music on it so it dosnt really make a difference.
EVGA is pretty great, wish it came with a backplate, but for 20 bucks who cares. the gpu OC's great but i cant put 5MHz on the VRAM without running into stability issues. eventually i will grab another for sli. in hindsight i prolly would have gotten a Windforce G1 or a Strix to match the mobo.
pretty good. 4/5 for sure. fits all the hardware fine, i just wish it had some of the more modern features. ssd mounting behind the mobo tray is the biggest one. also i wish they had a solid side window option. hard to see through that honeycomb ventilation.
More Corsair. premium tier 1 psu for steady power delivery. i know 860 is overkill for my current setup but i love the fanless mode, and i wanted plenty of room when i decide to go sli.
Look at the pretty colors
Corsair, Corsair, Corsair, Corsair.
