So this build has come a long way. It was an Alienware Area 51 that I received for free as a coming home gift from deployment. I have always liked building my own rigs, but since I received this for free, I was not complaining. Well. One day, one ram slot decided to die on me. I checked all the slots and sticks and it was not the sticks. It was the slot. So, I decided it was time to upgrade. I already had the ram and two SSD's in the Alienware, so all I really needed was a case, motherboard, and more upgrades were recently added today. The Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate and the Corsair H80i GT was added to the CPU and GPU respectively today. Before that, I just used the default Alienware liquid cooler for the CPU and kept the GPU air cooled. Well, the 120mm really thin rad for the 5820k overclocked just wasn't cutting it. Now with the new liquid cooler my temps are much cooler. By about 20 degreees. Went from 50 celcius IDLE on that Alienware liquid cooler to now in the 28-30 range idle with the big water. I ran AIDA 64 for a few hours and it never peaked 60 on a 700mhz overclock. Sounds good to me, so I am now getting a full 1ghz overclock out of it. At 4.3ghz. Hopefully the results are still awesome. I'd like to get the 1080 eventually, but honestly with the games I play, I am maxing all settings out at 1080, which is what I play at. The two SSD's are in RAID 0 and im getting around 900mb/s random read and write. Alienware's bios and motherboard allowed for RAID, just not with SSD's. Much happier now. The 2 3TB WD Red's are also in RAID 0 and are my storage for movies, and I use the 2TB WD Black as storage and backup. Also, I added a 1600 watt EVGA power supply because I used the power supply that came with the Alienware that was 1600 watts at Gold rating. Thanks for looking at my build and please post comments!
Blazing fast. A bit on the warm side. I highly recommend at least a 240mm liquid cooling solution if you plan on overclocking.
An absolute blessing. Dropped my temps by 20 degrees on idle and load and is very efficient and quiet. Especially with the low noise adapters for the fans. A bit difficult lining all the fans up, but what large radiator isn't?
Great for the price. I absolutely love the easy overclocking in BIOS. I just hit 4.0ghz or 4.3 ghz and it is stable and working very well. Not as awesome as what more money can buy you, but that is expected.
Can not complain here. Great RAM at a great price. I have mine on XMP Profile 1 which runs them bad boys at 2800mhz. Stable all day.
No complaints. Been running very well for over a year.
Same as the 840. No complaints.
Reliable. Quiet. Fast for a HDD.
The Ti was not out when I got this card, so it was the best thing to ever fall in my lap. Absolutely destroys anything I throw at it.
Great case. Love the foam padding for extra noise dampening. Decent cable management. Love the rubber grommets. HDD slides are a bit finnicky.
