Description

Hi ! So this is my last build , a tiny itx power house for gaming and streaming.

This build was king of difficult , because I has 3 main problematic.

First- I am french and now I work for one year in japan so i would like to take it back easily ( Small size a lite weight ).

Second- A powerful PC ( obviously )

Third- Less noise as possible

And also I would like something with style, obviously

Case

The Raijintek Metis . So this is the more tiny case i could find in japan. Only one 120mm Fan mounts on the rear of the case.

Motherboard

Something I can overclock easily with.

RAM

I has to get the metal part off because they would't feet with the CPU cooler.

CPU

I don't need more.

CPU Cooler

Low profile and efficient . I put this Vortex Fan because it's a quiet fan and also a 140 mm

fan with 120 mm mountings holes. I have to mod a little to feet this with the cooler but at list it is just fine.

Storage

Just 2 SSDs one for os and one for games , I have a massive Nas so it's ok. Also, less noise without mechanical drives . I stick it together with double tape and place behind the PSU

PSU

For the PSU , just sfx to feet longer GPU

GPU

Just the most powerful I can feet there I think ( 250mm available ). And I take of the plastic cover just for pleasing.

Some led ,cable lacing and Black brush aluminum tape to mask some details .

-----UPDATE-----

I drill two 120mm holes for better airflow. I lose 15C on the GPU :D

New 1To SSD and new side panel

Nice build! English is pretty good and so is the itx case mod! Did I just compare your quality of your speaking of a language to the quality of a case? Yes I did! +1 for using skylake! That ram seems expensive though...

Wow didn't notice the price on the RAM, that's cray cray!

I actually like how this build appears! Especially your first photo, wowzers. Great parts here, but I do wonder why the Kingston V200. Were they just good deals for you at the time? Would have stuck a ADATA's SP600 256GB, Crucial's BX100 250GB or Samsung's EVO 250GB but no idea how the prices were for you to begin with. Plus you mentioned why so it's fine just would have done something else.

I think your build is awesome either way. Enjoy and thanks for sharing it! +1

Thanks for your comment ! So the 2 Kingston 128 ssd are older drives from older builds , but I will look for an evo 250 soon :)

  • 1 point

No problem and that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification!

  • 1 point

If they are older drives, like when they first came out, they should be decent since that is before the decided to do the switch and bait.

Hey nice job on this build. That's really funny that I've been eyeing the case and then I see this build on the front page. Not the most popular choice but I really like it! Did you know you can actually turn it into a non-reversed layout? Check out "Elegance" by MetallicAcid http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/322330-elegance-by-metallicacid/page-6. He did an incredible job on the build. Also, where did you get the full glass side panel?

  • 1 point

Yes I see it verry nice build !

  • 1 point

Where did you get the full glass side panel?

  • 1 point

Yeah, but then you lose compatibility with longer then 170mm GPUs, like the one he has. One of the ideas with the inverted mobo is that you can keep the PSU on the bottom and still have room for long GPUs up top. That's why Bitfenix went inverted with the Prodigy and Phenom Ms, imo.

  • 1 point

Couldn't you just mount the power supply to the top then with the regular layout?

  • 1 point

Yeah, but then you'd have to cut the top for an ugly exhaust (IMO) Why do you want it to be regular so much? I know writing would be upside down but you can't see any text anyway.

  • 1 point

Because I'm OCD and dont want to have to put my PC on the left side of my desk in order to see into it lol. I actually think I could make it look decent if I drilled individual holes, definitely not a giant cut out. Probably sounds like a lot of work but I'd love the experience.

Is that Plexi or is it glass? I'm thinking about tempered glass, but I have to see how much it will be and see what i can do with my cables (I'll steal from your routing)! Great build, almost exactly what I want! :D

First off, I wanna say that I love your build! I've had a hard-on for the Metis since it came out, and everything you've done to it is absolutely wonderful.

Secondly, I highly recommend checking out themodzoo.com if you haven't already. I know for a fact the Munkys over there would love your build as much as we here do.

Thirdly (and finally), I certainly hope this isn't your last build ever. It'd be a shame for someone with your talent to not apply it again. So that said, I'm excited to see what you do next. :)

I has to get the metal part off because they would't feet with the CPU cooler.

Why not go for some Corsair LPX memory to solve that problem. It would cost a lot less and it comes in black if you care about color matching.

Trying to find a way to get rid of the existence of the extensions in my build I came across this set of modular sleeved cables http://www.moddiy.com/products/Silverstone-Strider-Premium-Single-Sleeved-Modular-Cables-Set-%28White%29.html They even have sell them individually. Would you replace yours? I'm still thinking about transforming mine, from extensions to regular cables.

  • 1 point

Actualy this is the extention I use I just do cable management to pass the "non extention" cables behind yhe PSU and it's all OK

  • 1 point

What I showed you is not an extension, that was the point. But yes with the smaller SFX PSU you have there's more room to hide them.

  • 1 point

EXACT sorry i didn't see So yes good idea just check compatibility with your GPU

  • 1 point

They don't have red, and I don't want black and red. I know what I have to do, I have to get pins and one of those special pliers and do it myself, it would be the cheapest way, and not that difficult I think, just the 24 pin, 8 pin and the pci-e has to be shorter, I don't really care about the Sata ones.

How many fan headers this motherboard has? I just bought it lol. Nice build btw +1!

Very nice, but in the future I would not recommend those SSDs. SSDNows are the poorest performing SSDs on the market, they come close to WD blues. I suggest a Kingston HyperX Fury/Savage. They cost a little more but perform way, WAY better! You will be experiencing 5 second boots instead of 20 second boots. Other than that, an AMAZING build! You get my +1! XD

  • 2 points

What about the 850 Evo/Pro? Cheap price for lots of space and one of the fastest performance.

  • 1 point

the 1To SSD was a fatality make by the steam sales more space more games

  • 0 points

Yes. But what i meant is rhali8's suggestion about hyperx/kingston was not that good. I suggested the 850 evo/pro which you already have. Maybe buy an 850 evo 250gb to replace the two SSDNows.

  • 0 points

The 850 Evo/Pro is also an excellent choice, but they are outperformed by the Kingston HyperX Savage.

  • 1 point

They aren't outperformed by the Kingston HyperX Savage..

  • 1 point

Sorry, my mistake, I was thinking of the predator PCI-E HyperX SSD.

  • 1 point

PCI-E SSD's and normal SSD's are totally different.. lol therefore you cant compare an evo and a pci-e hyperx..

I am going to recommend the SilverStone SG13B case here. It has support for a 266mm GPU, and a 140mm fan + radiator in the front (Works with a Corsair H80i). It is also only 11.5 liters. For $40, you can't go wrong with this case. Not saying what you picked is bad, your case has many more fan mounts, but for the ultimate "smallest" gaming rig, the SG13B is the go-to case. You did do a very nice job with the build. I would also go with an R9 390, as it is more powerful for about $40 less (on-par with a 980).

  • 1 point

Hey ! thamk you four your comment . So yes I was think about the SilverStone SG13B but one thing destroy all my plan with this case. This is this like stupid 3 in 1 panel very dificult to mod but yes this is a good choice. About the GPU you're right but with somes issues with AMD cards by the past I decide to go with the green team for this buid.
