My first attempt at building a custom PC in 7years.
I tried to keep the cost to performance ratio as balanced as possible. The RAM was the biggest cost hit. I wanted to go at least 16GB with the lowest latency compatible QVL'd RAM possible for the MoBo so I had so spend about $100 more than I wanted to.
Initially, I'm going to be using this as a WIN10 HTPC/Steambox,
BIOS needed to be updated in order for a few things to work well but after that, setup was a breeze.
XMP needed to be enabled in order to take full advantage of the 3200mhz RAM. Default with no XMP is 2133mhz.
Prices are all in Canadian Dollars.
Flag between the case and the APU radiator. - Everything fits beautifully.
Flag between APU and MoBo. - No Issues, boots nice and seems to be nice and happy.
Easy build. Everything fit together like a dream.
Crazy fast little machine. NVME drive plus the low latency RAM makes this thing boot incredibly fast and everything is nearly instant.
The x370GTN MoBo has some definite quirks. 3 BIOS updates. I couldn't get it to recognize a Bootable USB over 16GB. A lot of what I would consider default options needed to be enabled manually. The boards load out packs a bunch into a small amount of real estate.
- The CM-E110 case was tough to work with. The front panel I/O cables are a disaster and the case was warped out of the box. Holes don't line up without flexing the case into uncomfortable positions. (I'll be changing cases at the next opportunity.)
So happy this came out. It has been great.
Nice little cooler. Fit great in my ITX case.
Took a few days to see the benefit, Its not amazing but its better than the standard Thermal paste for about the same price.
Weird little board. Packs a lot of I/O into a little package. No wasted space on it.
Paid way more than I wanted on this kit, but so far it has been worth it.
Pretty flimsy box. Does nothing to help with cable management.
First one I received was DOA. Second has been working so far. No Ketchup and mustard cables, which is nice, but all the cables are over 12-15 inches.
