Built this specifically for gaming, no graphics card yet because im waiting for the new r9 300 series to come out, but if they're no good, i'll just go for a gtx 970 or 960.

first time build, honestly i thought it would be harder... the hardest part was unplugging the 20+4 pin power connector to put the motherboard into the case.

i first got the cpu and psu about two days after i order them (yay amazon) but i had to wait a full week to get the case motherboard and ram (boo newegg)

Edit: got a graphics card, bought a used r9 280x off of ebay for $141, steal of a deal, glad i got it. managed to overclock it alittle, got 1100mhz core and 1600mhz memory clock with about 80% fan speed, still quiet, cant hear my pc over my gameplay.

Edit 2: got more ram, and got more storage plus an ssd upgrade.

Edit 3: Got a 144hz monitor, and wow can i notice the difference! Improved my reaction time significantly in csgo. I also reduced my clock speed on my gpu because of high temps, even though i bought another case fan and put it on the sidepannel gpu temps weren't affected. core clock at 1030mhz and memory clock at 1500 reaching almost 70C under load at 100% fan speed and 40C at idle... I will be buying a gpu cooler eventually.

Final edit before new setup: got new speakers, temps lowered on gpu because of new case, got led strip, got another monitor and new psu. gpu overclock is fine at 1150mhz core and 1500 memory

Part Reviews

great cpu for the price, handles every game i throw at it, without any problems.

pretty good motherboard. enough ram slots, but only one pciex16 slot. cant overclock the ram though.

great ram at a great price, not able to overclock it on my motherboard, but i would guess it can get to 2133mhz

good ssd for the money.

decent speed, more than enough space.

mine is quite old, and i think is dying on me, but has never been under heavy load.

Video Card

great graphics card. plays all the games i want at high frame rates. gets alittle hot, but will not be a problem if you get an aftermarket cooler.

great monitor, got mine used on ebay for less than 150

amazing mouse. 1000 poll 1ms rgb and feels nice

Nice build sofar. That's funny, newegg almost always comes next day for me (they must be close) and Amazon takes foreverrrr to get to me lol.

ahhh i also hate unplugging the 24 pin lmao

Nice almost complete (I think?) build. This is most likely what my build will end up like. Nice name, by the way!

Did you have to update the BIOS? I'm looking forward to get a B85 mobo and I'm concerned about its compatibility with the 4460 as it's a refresh CPU.

no, i did not have to update the bios.

Thanks, this was my question too.

beautiful build. im thinking of building a new rig with the same case and psu as you, how did they work out?

MinusTacos submitter 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

the case is excellent, great airflow and good options for cable management, loads of space and alot of 3.5 inch bays for hdds, none removable though. the psu is also great, good power output. maybe it was my motherboard, but i had difficulty removing the 20+4 pin cable, other than that though, they're great.

with this build what games will it be able to play after you get a gpu? i think i will go with the cheaper gpu (gtx 970) for me because im tight on money but i could do this build and it is nice. but could this run games such as witcher 3, arma 3, battlefield 4, skyrim, etc. also what fps would it get and what are the settings that you will use?

MinusTacos submitter 1 Build 2 points 45 months ago

well if i were going to get the gtx 970, then this build should handle all those games on high settings at least. 1080p probably averaging around 70 fps

awesome i love it man thanks!

That name.... Sounds like you're hinting at a drug or something.......... Nice build btw. +1 :D

MinusTacos submitter 1 Build 1 point 45 months ago

currently, the gpu is not loud at all, its quieter than my case fans, perhaps a little loud at start up, but after the first few seconds not loud at all, i even have the fan speed on 85%
