+ Total (United States):
EDIT: moved my tower to the other side and with a new wallpaper and a blue colour scheme it looks so nice, hence the first photo now being a picture of the new setup in all it's glory! I've turned the LEDs in the case off for now, whilst nice they can get really bright!
Edit no.2: I somehow found my way onto Techsource's Setup Wars! Check out episode 91, it's the first setup of the episode :).
My old build but updated- was too lazy to do an entirely new write-up so I copy and pasted my old build description, but have added new parts. This is my PC along with pictures of my entire setup.
I wanted to build a PC which was good for gaming, productivity and general browsing the web.
i7 6700K= Good choice for a myriad of different uses
Zotac GTX 1070 Amp! Extreme- didn't want to fork out an extra $200+ for a GTX 1080- the 1070 seems like one of the best bang for your buck, higher end cards around. Notice how I have bought a GPU support bracket from Amazon- Zotac unfortunately do not offer support brackets with their GPU's, and this helps to combat the GPU sag extremely effectively. EDIT: I decided that one card wasn't enough, and that I simply had to have another one- enter the 2nd Zotac 1070. I ended up dismantling the GPU support bracket and using it to prop both cards up to prevent both from sagging. Both are staying at very respectable temperatures, not going above 80C at load. SLI works a treat, going from 55fps in the Witcher 3 to over 85 with hairworks on on max. I bought the Nvidia High Bandwidth SLI bridge to ensure maximum performance.
ML 120 Pro- Liked the look of them, originally didn't want any of the RBG fancy colour changing options, I knew what colours I wanted to stick with. Initially I was concerned with the bold yellow strips on top of the GPU- however once I completed the build I found that it did not look out of place- in fact it seemed to compliment its otherwise dull surroundings. I bought 2 8-pin white PCI-E extensions and a 24-pin extension to go with the white of the LED's. Have now bought cable combs to go with the extensions for a much cleaner look. Also included the Phanteks LED strip. Also bought a custom made backplate for the Zotac.
Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Tempered Glass Black- I cannot come up with enough good words to describe this. It looks stunning; the tempered glass, along with the low profile thumb screws, makes this thing look amazing in daylight or in complete darkness. The complete metal exterior and interior, although heavy, really adds the feel of quality and longevity. A few things which I did note which was excellent thinking by Phanteks: 1: the top removal CPU Cooler slider. This makes mounting and installing CPU coolers SO easy- just a few screws to undo and it slides out without a hitch. 2: Plenty of room in the back to work with to organise cables and route wires. There is also a lot of space underneath the PSU shroud to stuff your cables away from sight. 3. The included dust filters are extremely handy- just a firm tug and they come right off for easy cleaning/maintenance work on fans. 4. The included Phanteks toolbox! This is a nice touch by Phanteks, giving you everything you need plus spares to build any build out there.
I decided to go for the MG279Q as my monitor as I did not feel like shelling out the extra $200+ bucks for G-sync, or go for a similar priced monitor with G-sync but be a TN Panel. The 144hz monitor coupled with 2K resolution along with a lovely IPS screen makes doing anything on this PC a pleasure. I have not noticed any of the mythical "IPS Backlight Bleed" but perhaps this is because I do not know what to look for! EDIT: I also got 16GB more ram to end up with a total of 32GB of 3000MHz of RAM.
Overall I am extremely happy with this build and I hope you enjoy. :)
As good as it gets for Skylake!
Very quiet under idle, very acceptable pump noise under load. Looks amazing too with being able to customise the Corsair Logo colour.
Incredible motherboard! Very, very nice BIOS/UEFI which makes controlling everything very easy. Logo is RGB.
Hasn't failed me yet, nice fast RAM.
Lightning fast boot times, loads Windows in about 10 seconds and logs on instantly!
Solid reliable mass storage.
Beastly card, huge heatsink keeps temperatures below 80 degrees even with both in SLI.
Beautiful, beautiful case. Lovely to build in, 10/10 would recommend to anyone, new builder or experienced.
Even with both my cards in SLI the fan doesn't seem to spin, and if it does it's inaudible! Very good PSU.
Windows is Windows! Actually really pleasantly surprised, FAR better than 8!
Lovely colours, colour between all the colours is the same, very quiet operation and good mover of air!
Good monitor at a fantastic price for what it offers!
Has completely changed my typing experience, a mechanical keyboard is truly unlike anything else.
The RGB capability of this mouse is stunning, and the side buttons feel easier to use than the Logitech G600 variant!
Proper headphones, finally moved away from beats!
Syncs with the front LED colour of the case.
