First PC build
Custom modded an old PowerMac G4 (sawtooth) case to take a mATX motherboard. Many mods later I have an awesome looking build that runs a bit hotter than it should.
Modding beganwith removing all of the plastic panels on the outside of the case. Next, the old proprietary mac standoffs were drilled out. Then, an old dead mATX board was used with an old ati card to determine placement of the motherboard such that the PCIe slots would be in the correct places. Holes were drilled and new standoffs were added. A hole was drilled in the bottom of the case for the 240 rad of the AIO. A hole was also added to give the power supply some extra air intake (not visible under the plastic panel on the back side). The old front panel buttons from the Mac had to be rewired to work with the new motherboard. Finally, the new hardware was put in and as much cable management was done as could be with the very limiting case and cable lengths.
Overall good gaming machine and love the excess of cores from the 1600. Probably should have gotten a modular PSU and better ram but the ram runs well at 2933 mHz and the PSU was cheap so no real complaints. Would I do it again? Absolutely not that case mod was a pain in the ***, but I love the case and love how it turned out.
*P.S. Please excuse the cable management. This is a very limiting case and I did not have a modular power supply to get custom cables for.
Awesome CPU very powerful, more than what I need for a good price
Nice cooler, expensive, but works well and easy to install.
Solid cheap Motherboard
Works exactly as you'd expect
Fast, good boot times
Super fast card, I don't love the look, a little too open, but goes well with the rest of my build.
It's a fan it blows. I wish it had no LEDs though
