Description

This build is my current LAN rig from spring 2017

Had most of the parts being a bit unused, was setup as an OSX system (see the MacMini3 build). Realized it was 6 months ago I last turned it on and thats just a waste!

So now I bought a full Windows 10 Pro license, because I imagine I will upgrade this to better hardware going forward and don't want to be stuck on a OEM license. Only upgrade part is actually the GTX 1050Ti which performs a whole lot better than expected, wow!

Now I am using it around the house where I have monitors/TVs (I hate my laptop, this is much nicer) and I can even bring it other places for LANs!

Recently started playing CS:GO again after a pause of about 7 years or so (I have been on Steam for 10 years apparently), so this fits perfectly into that scheme.

Its also much better to use for light internet work, instead of the full Zensible (1070w) system. This one uses way less watt from the wall.

The GFX is by the way the only GTX1050Ti I have found that is able to fit inside, and none of the higher spec cards I looked at can fit. It is actually touching the hard drives underneath and extremely close to both side panel and front panel. Phew... It was difficult to put in! But works amazingly well

By the way, it still have magnetic feet, that's why I can hang it under the desk like that, a simple little mod with almost magic results

yes this case is small, but it even has a even smaller little brother, see that other dude here building a modded version that is even more cropped for space

Actually the drive tray in the front is already completely gone. Problem is not as much the length, there is about ½-1 inch or so left (not much but its there), the problem is the thickness of the coolers! This card is about 1½slot thick and therefor fits to the dot of where the top of the drives underneath it is.

Whenever this is due for an upgrade I will consider going all m2 storage instead and thereby loosing the drive mounts and free up space for a better GPU.

Trust me, I researched this till my fingers where blue and only found this one card for now that would fit.

Yea but when I look around it seems like its about 50mm thick, and I only have 30 - on the dot the same thickness as my card now is.

Never mind, not going to upgrade right now, the 1050Ti performs pretty ok for competitive gaming, where quality is not premium (at home I use a 1070 and can throw all the quality I want at my screen)

I love the PC-Q20 & 21 too, huge fanatic of Lian Li ITX cases :) Nice build, I've never seen that 1050Ti before but I have the same case myself but find out the hard way that a 1070 didn't fit. I keep reminding myself to buy a 1060 but not too sure what fits yet, Jipster69 - love your build, reading through the log.............right now.

Inno 3D make a small 1060 that I think will fit perfectly? 172mm length and 98mm height :)

Yes or something even better, my best guess is we will see many more mini graphics card in the future. Not going to upgrade this right now, because it would meen i have to remove the ssd and hdd and replace it with one or two m2s
