Description

Built to get my feet in the water, will upgrade components when money and time is on hand.

Not 100% sure on benchmarks, but can definitely run Doom and the Witcher 3 at mixed-medium settings with a framerate of anywhere from 45-60 (Witcher 3, framerate is locked) or even as high as 120 (in Doom with areas less intensive, not including Snap-maps using Original Doom assets, which are an easy 200.)

I am able to run PCSX2 with no major problems with emulation, although I still need to fine tune the settings so games operate at stock conditions.

FX 8370 also came with a free copy of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Part Reviews

CPU

Nice, stable performance with no real hiccups. The very large cooler and heat sink can make wiring in mid-sized cases more difficult though I understand that the sink was not meant for a form factor that small.

Motherboard

Satisfying component layout, no major issues on boot. Does come with a board speaker which I never used on this model because of how well it worked out of the box.

Nice build +1. Some more pictures will be good.

Out of interest why go for the FX 8 series instead of an i5 6500? Bang on same price you paid for mobo / cpu / RAM here in the UK, though know may differentiate globally. I have no allegiance to AMD or Intel, for me comes down to price vs performance and here I believe the i5 wins. So just interested in your intended use and reasons for part selection.

Initially I went with AMD because my first swing at picking out parts left me nauseated at the prices for the current line of Intel CPUs (back when I didn't know heads or tails about performance). That and my previous attempt at a build involved an FX6300 for an am3+ mobo I already owned.

First off: welcome to pc building :) I'm sure everyone would like some more pictures of the build (especially "the guts"). Also, did you buy anything used? Or on sale?

Everything was either stock price or on sale. the graphics card I actually may have bought a little bit above market price, but that's only because I had bought it for a build that never went off the ground.
