Description

I bought the base system for $75 from a friend, and it didn't come with a hard drive or an os so I had to purchase those myself. I want to make a few upgrades such as the cpu, but I don't know which i5 would be compatible with my system. In about 2 weeks I will be getting a gtx 960 from a guy who lives near me. Overall i'm having fun learning about the computer and playing some games.

If your looking to overclock i would go with the i5 4690k, but if your not going to overclock than you should go with an i5 4460

There is a non-K version of the 4690

The 4460 is $100 cheaper then the 4690; if they aren't planning to overclock, then they probably won't care about the performance difference that $100 will make, lol

True. I got the G4560 for about $50. Dual core, hyperthreading. It holds up.

I highly recommend a CXM PSU for this PC.

What price are you willing to spend on a new CPU? Depending on that you could go for a i5-4460, I'm not sure what the prices are like in the US. If you're looking to go higher, you're going to need to upgrade a few more parts.
