Description

First off, there's no reason behind the name, it just sounds cool. So, this is my first ever build and I am damn proud of myself. I have been planning and researching about PC builds for the last 4 months and I believe I have watched over 100 PC builds on youtube; even the detailed long ones. The hardest part for me was choosing between 1440p and 4K. You can easily build a 4K capable PC with this budget but many don't consider the cost of the monitor in their budget and I did the same thing. But then my budget went over 3500 and the parts were all entry-level parts. I then moved down to 1440p and it was the best decision I ever took. I got some sick looking high-end parts and had the budget left to improve the aesthetics of my setup as well. I was really nervous about the building process and my hands were literally shaking once the build was done and I had to power it on in fear that it won't post and might have damaged something while building. Thankfully, no problems occurred and everything went really smooth. I know the parts are kinda overkill for gaming and for a beginner like me but I wanted to go all out and wanted it to look aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. And huge thanks to the r/pcmasterrace and r/buildapcsales , they helped a lot and I saved around 200-250$ with those sales. Overall, I am really happy with my setup and I finally can game at 90-100fps on ULTRA on the highest demanding games out there. That's everything I ever asked for. And, I didn't overclock anything, I might do it down the line. Also, ask me anything and I will hopefully reply. Peace out!

Nice sleeve job you bought there. I am not a fan of the rgb movement, but this one is alright : ) gg

+1. Looks so nice. Especially how you've matched the colours of the RGB components to your wallpaper!

It's a little bit of a shame that the green on the speakers doesn't quite match... could you paint them the aqua/turquoise or orange colour?

Thank you so much for the +1 and I don't think there's an option to change the colors on the speakers other than to manually take a paintbrush and color it so I'll probably have to go with it.

Love the color scheme, and I always love seeing the Ornata Chroma on here. One of the most underrated keyboards imo. :) good build

This thing looks amazing. The monitor and the 1440p 144hz monitor suites it perfectly. its crazy overkill for most stuff, but stilll great. Why didn't you go for a 1080ti by the way (not that you need it)

  • 2 points

Yeah, just like you said, I don't need it. 1080 is more than enough for 1440p ultra gaming so I didn't see any point going for the ti version. And thanks man!

You've completely shattered my first PC build (which I just posted the other day), but I mean you DID have like 3 times my budget :p haha. I'm not gonna lie, besides the top of the line parts, the highlight of this build for me is the NZXT CPU cooler. That thing is freaking gorgeous. If I could, I'd get it in a heartbeat. I LOVE this thing, +1

Hey man your setup looks greasy! I’m deciding between the 24 inch or 27 inch version. A lot of reviews say the 24 inch is too small for 1440p but I don’t plan on sitting that far away and the 165hz seems more future proof than 144hz. I’m planning on waiting (if it’s in next month or two) for the Volta GPU so 165 FPS might b achievable down the road. My question is do you wish you would have gone with the 27 inch version instead of the 24 or does the 24 feel just right? There’s a deal for 349 on the 24 inch and 379 for the 27 inch.

Also my setup is my first and it’s almost the exact same as yours! Great minds think alike haha

Is the monitor too small or is it a perfect size? I just brought it(did not received it yet) and was thinking if the 24" is a bad choice then again I don't feel like spending an extra 400$ CAD for a 27". Heard the 24" is better since it helps your awareness more and there's more PPI than a 27". Only cons I found is the scaling which shouldn't be a deal breaker.

  • 1 point

This is the perfect size for me...right at the sweet spot. The 27" looks really big and as far as I know, the colors are washed out on that and also the ppi is horrible. This is the perfect monitor once you tweak the color setting and once you go G-sync you never go back!

Beautiful build man, i love the color scheme! im guessing youre using the g skill program to change the RGB on your sticks? thats something i need to get around to.

Thanks man and I use the Asus aura sync. However for some reason whatever preset I set, it resets everytime I put tvr the computer to sleep or restart it. This has been really frustrating.

How will you manage the storage. 525Gb isn't that much today.

Yeah, it isn't. I will add storage down the line. I didn't need a lot of storage, to begin with.

  • 1 point

Hey, Do you have any overheating issues? I’ve heard that this case can get pretty hot.

  • 2 points

No, my system runs very cool and quiet. It could be also because it's freezing where I live but I haven't had any problems during the warm days as well.

  • 1 point

hey before i say anything i just want to say, your setup is straight up eye candy. anyways i wanted to ask, is there much difference between the EVGA ftw2 1080 when compared to the EVGS ftw 1080? the second version is currently cheaper and i was wondering what the differences are.

  • 1 point

Thanks for the comment man. Really appreciate it. And for the graphics card, I think the FTW2 has better cooling than the FTW version and I do not remember if it had a higher clock speed, if it did, I don't think it was that significant.

  • 1 point

Did you use the original case fans? Are they quite enough?

  • 1 point

Yeah, I used the original case fans and they seem pretty quiet. I didn't have any problems.

  • 1 point

What fans did you use? and how many. I am building a similar pc and was wondering do you use 2x 8 pin custom cables for your gpu or something else because the gtx 1080ti im buying uses 2x 8 pin connector but I like the looks of your evga card better and if I need to buy different custom cables for the evga card or stick to the 2x 8 pin connectors.

  • 1 point

I used the case fans and I might upgrade in the future. And, I used 2x8 pin custom cables for my GPU. So you can stick to the same 2x8 pin connectors as well. Hope this helps.

(+1) I really like the look of this setup, especially the color scheme. I might have to give it a go once my nzxt kraken x62 arrives. I'm in the market for a new monitor but I can't seem to wrap my head around what I'd purchase. I'm currently still using this cheap Samsung 24 inch 1080P 60Hz monitor (s24f350fhu).

I like the look of the Dell very much as it has a non-gamer look which I very much appreciate. The price difference between the 24 inch and 27 inch model in my country is, needless to say quite ridiculous. (A difference of up to 140-200 euros even for just a couple inches).

Are u satisfied with the size of the monitor at 1440p? I've seen a large amount of people say that 27 inches is the best size for 1440p, not 24 inches.

I hope ya don't mind but ima gonna steal that monitor for one of my builds...... so just leave your house keys under the welcome mat please.....

The build and setup looks completely astonishing and it just blows my mind that this is your first PC build. With that, may I ask which desk you are using in this setup because it seems to work well with the LED strips you have mounted in the back. Anyways, thank you and apply for TechSource's Setup Wars if you haven't already, you might get the seal of approval.

Thanks for the comment. The keyboard is clicky but trust me it's much quieter than the Cherry Blue mechanical keyboards. My room-mate has one of those and it pisses me off whenever he starts typing on it. So, I think grabbing this keyboard won't piss any of your friends off.
