Description

Simple build to replace my parents' PC from 2010. More than enough to serve their needs and will hopefully last them another 8 years.

CPU

First time trying an APU and for the price this is fantastic. The included cooler is keeping it icy and runs really quietly

Motherboard

Has all the goods, only complaint is a bit of coil whine that I suspect is coming from the mobo

Memory

This was the cheapest 8GB RAM kit with RGB (my mom saw the rig I made for myself and asked for some pretty colors on this one)

Storage

Good deal for 1TB of M.2 storage

Case

Great bang for the buck, I like the magnetic dust filters and it feels roomy. It's not tempered glass but looks nearly as nice to me

PSU

Don't need much power for this build so 450W felt like overkill, but it was the cheapest modular power supply available sooooo yeah

Monitor

Love this, really solid feel and clean display for low cost. Only wish it had height adjustment

Other Stuff

-Case Fans: Solid and cheap RGB fan set, software is kinda trashy but that's fine

-Wireless Adapter: Decent speeds so far for a tiny USB receiver

-RGB Strips: More pretty colors, mobo has an RGB header so why not

-OS: It works

Does your mobo have any power saving settings enabled in the Bios? I remember reading a comment from someone a while ago that this caused a whining noise in their mobo. No idea if it's a common thing but maybe worth a shot.

Ooohh interesting! Definitely going to look into that. My parents can't hear the high pitched whine lol but it bugs me

Dad taught you that Mom being happy was a good thing? Smart man. :)

Lol he's no dummy. When Mom asks you to trick out her facebook machine with RGB, you don't think twice

Very nice build! Would definitely upgrade to Masterbox lite 5 imo

Thanks! Tbh I didn't like the look of the MB lite 5, for a case upgrade I probably would go for just the MB 5 or something like this

Nope! One reason I chose this mobo was compatibility out-of-box with 2nd gen Ryzen

The thermaltake fan set came with a fan/rgb controller so all the case fans plug in there and just one cable runs to the mobo
