Description

Actually built in November 2018, belated post. Built this pc with first paycheck I got as a PhD student, was so excited to graduate from macbook and play actual games.

-

I went for the minimalistic white/black theme, and purposely picked out parts that didn't have RGB lighting, which was actually pretty difficult... so many parts come in red/blue/black and not enough white, so I had to splurge a bit more to customize- no regrets though.

-

One of my favorite part of this build is actually the Noctua fan!! Noctua's chrome edition white metal cover and black fan fit perfectly with NZXT case as well as the white trident Z RAM.

-

Hope this can be a good inspiration for folks that enjoy non-RGB builds :)

She has the H500 case fans in their stock neg. air configuration, GN tested this configuration and found that it worked pretty well. the only benefit I found swapping the fans to the front on my sons H500 is that it helps keep the dust out with pos. air pressure, the temp drop was negligible.

really nice work Gamer Girl!

Exactly the reason behind my case fan configuration. Thank you! :')

Nice, really nice. Clean and fantastic build.

A good PC to game on and write research papers.

Other than Steam/GOG/Origin, be sure to install Latex to make compiling papers a walk in the park.

The cleanest white build I ever seen. Who needs rgb when you have something so clean?

I can't quite tell from the photos, but are all 4 RAM slows accessible with that fan? The fan I currently have blocks almost all of the ram slots. I'd like one where I don't have to remove the fan to swap RAM.

P.S. Looks amazing!

Yes, Noctua U-12S clears all four RAM slots :)

Very clean cable management and a lovely black and white color scheme. Nicely done with the theme and I am certain its been serving you well for a couple of months. Great work on your build and you have my one.

  • Curious question: How are your temperatures? CPU and GPU temps?

Fastidious! (Both the computer and your room.) Quite a step up from my first college computer...a Timex Sinclair.

Jokes aside, great build. Looks amazing and 2070 is a great card.

I don't see any front fans, also hows the gigabyte card? I tried the RGB software when I got a 2080 and I had severe issues.

Has a 2070 not a 2080 something might be different

  • 2 points

no, its the software issue, particularly if you have other RGB software installed. Other forums indicate this and the only solution seems to exit out of it on task manager.

Great build! Quick question about the NH-U12S and ram clearance. Do you think you would be able to fit a 55mm high stick in the first slot?

Yes

Simply beautiful.

I enjoyed finding RGB components to light up my case, but I really appreciate the simplicity of your build. Especially your cable management! Very nice!

I'm also interested in the temps you are getting, no troubles just using the two case fans?

Kudos.

Are the monitors good?

What do you think of that Samsung monitor, is it good? Is it worth the price? I want to buy it, but I read everywhere that there are dead pixels on almost all monitors, and that on some monitors the panel isn't glued really well to the frame. Awesome build btw. I have white H500 myself. Gorgeous case!

  • 1 point

I actually had a spot of dead pixels the first time I bought this monitor, but I returned for a second one which was fine. Honestly can tell you that I love the monitor, it really was the best I could find for the price as mentioned by a lot of forums I read: 1440p, 144Hz, 27 in, overall look, curved, color, and build quality.

Absolutely love the clean lines and the aesthetics of the build bravo, the sleeved cable have also been added to my list after seeing your build (thank you).

In terms of the screen i've been looking at 27" normal, but have also been toying with a 34" wide screen for productivity, just wondering if you find enough real estate on screen?

Good catch haha this was back when it was typical to get 128GB/256GB SSD for operating system and HD for storage, but I really didn't want to get the HD. So I ended up opting for 512GB SSD with the intention to add on more NVMe in the future, which I'm so glad I did because SSD prices started to drop exponentially soon after. I'm planning on adding 2 TB of NVMe, probably the 970 EVO :) thank you!
