Description

Hey Guys, My name is Taha and I'm 15 years old.

I have been planning this build for a good couple of months, starting off with a £800 budget, and before anybody says it. No my parents didn't pay for the parts, I spent my so called "live savings" on it, I also had to work really hard to gain the funds. I had to work night shifts at my Mum's Bakery over the summer and had to sell my Dad's spare car parts on eBay (with his permission of course.) But anyway I enjoyed building it as I have always been very fond of Computer software and hardware.

The Build is mainly for Gaming and Editing, and this build is supposed to be future proofed for daily computing and gaming. Some could say that this is a HUGE upgrade from my old laptop and PC. (PC: AMD Athlon 64 x2, 2gigs of RAM, unknown GPU, Laptop: 4gigs of RAM AMD E-350, built in graphics.)

Title: I picked this out from a song, if anybody actually listen to PTM on here, I will love you forever. Also I thought it would match because of the Razer Sticker and Razer mouse in the build :).

CPU: Works very very well, never experienced speed like this before especially during editing! There was a time when I thought about going for the higher end AMD CPUs, but due to their temps and the cooling needed to cool the CPU, I'm glad I didn't.

CPU Cooler: Cools like a champ! My laptops idle temps where around 60 degrees Celsius... And that was the norm for me, but for this I've never seen the temps go over 35 degrees in idle, Will definitely be Overclocking in the near future. And I was also very worried about installing this cooler because I didn't really research it well and thought that I'd get stuck whilst building it. But it turned out to be easier to install than the stock cooler.

Mobo: This motherboard is by far the most beautiful motherboard that I have ever seen, beats the multi-coloured looking crap that I saw inside my old PC when I had to remove the CD-Drive temporarily. Will be cross firing in this mobo in a couple more months when the funds and permission from my Dad is there.

Memory: I had upgraded my Laptop's RAM to 8 gigabytes and it was not sufficient (I also had to sell those 8 gigs and use the stock 4 gigs on my laptop for money for the New build.) 16 gigabytes is good enough for my editing, gaming and my horrible habit of having tens of tabs open. Will be upgrading to 32 gigs in the far future.

Storage/s: SSD: Oh my lord. This is amazing, I only have half of it left for important programmes. But it loads my OS withing 8 seconds and I turn my computer on and off just to witness it! It's amazing and I have no idea why I haven't ever bought one before!! HDD: Haven't had time to mess with this, pretty much there for most of my programmes and downloads, aswell as the thousands of pictures from family gatherings and stuff. 1 TB, sounds good to me.

GPU: This Gpu runs everything!! Never experienced any game on Ultra or medium for that matter and Ultra on games are amazing <3 . This GPU looks beautiful and runs everything on Ultra no problem, BF3 100fps+, Theif 100fps+, Hitman Absolution 100fps+, you get the message, and when I do crossfire this animal I can't imagine it's power!

Case: Not only is it really clean and simple (which makes it look sexy in my opinion) It also has neat fan filters and is fairly quite when it wants to be. Building in it was amazing and cable management holes were very useful. Would recommend and build in it again!

PSU: (sigh)

Right, so 1k watt for crossfire in the future. One thing that really, really, really pissed me off was the short CPU cable. I can't route it through the back, because I can't twist it to put it in the socket. So I had to just connect it regularly, and now I'm disgusted to look through my panel. Other than that no problems, all the other cables routed through the back perfectly, also comes with a lot of cables which is pretty neat!

Keyboard: Oh my Lord. Mechanical keyboards are the ****!! I love this keyboard so much, The backlight is amazing, and the Cherry MX Brown keys are perfect for me for typing and gaming. I will never go back to regular keyboards, and I might even bring this keyboard to my Computer Science lessons!

Mouse: It was between this or the ROCCAT Kone XTD, and the Deathadder is amazing! I use it for editing, gaming and web browsing and the adjustable DPI is great! I've never used a gaming mouse before and by the reviews I'm guessing I probably have the best one on the market! The programmable buttons are useful and the glowing snakes are orgasmic!

Monitor: This monitor is pretty good, it's bigger than the monitor I use to play on my PS4, but I've moved onto the Master Race and I haven't touched my PS4 since. The images are sharp on the monitor and I've never actually connected a PC to a monitor through any other video cable other than a VGA. Loving the monitor so far!

Any questions? Leave them below :)

UPDATE:

Bought IC Diamond Thermal compound as the temps were running at 40 degrees Idle.

UPDATE:

Routed the CPU cable through the back, by stretching it and using the closer cable management hole.

Yes! More 450D builds! The cable doesn't need to go across the motherboard though.

Thanks :D I really love the case.

The CPU cable won't route through the back :(

blakceffect 2 points 56 months ago

WIth that cooler you would be fine with AMD [Intel fan boys got in ur dome huh! LOL]. I have 8320 on h80i oc'ed to 4.3 all day, 4.5 but froze after 3hrs of testing. Never went over 46c during both tests. AND im in Arizona, USA 100f + everyday in the summmer! I was thinking the same but put that extra money into the GPU. Could have saved some money there.

WHICH is why I have the same one 290. Its a BEAST!

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 4 points 56 months ago

The GPU really is something! :D I just love it! If I was on a budget I would have defo have gone with AMD.

darkchief1 1 Build 1 point 56 months ago

My mate had an 8350 at 5ghz on an h100i 24/7 stable with good temps, but he didnt like the performance of the 8350 on dayz so got rid of it

PacificNic 4 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

AMD is really underrated in my opinion. That being said, I cannot get away from how AWESOME Intel chipset motherboards look.

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 55 months ago

Gotta agree, doing a build for a "client" and he's on a budget so going with a 8320 and a 280x going in all AMD!

xBajamonsteRx 2 Builds 2 points 56 months ago

but...but...but... its such a nice build... please fix that cable! +1

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 2 points 56 months ago

It won't route through the back :( Need extension for it.

xBajamonsteRx 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Ah. Ok. That sucks

ShadeeS 3 Builds 2 points 56 months ago

The real question is can that baby be overclock?!

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 3 points 56 months ago

When Eist was enabled it clocked the cpu at about 4.3ghz at 1.088v ran at 40 degrees idle. Will be doing some huge OCs in the upcoming days, just to see how far I can push her.

Snoopdify 1 Build 2 points 56 months ago

I like evga psu's

Niyaz 2 points 53 months ago

respect your attitude brother keep it up
and awesome build +1

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 53 months ago

Thanks man :)

annaheim 1 point 56 months ago

You can have someone make you extensions for your power supply. Visit the irc channel and ask the people there.

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Woah woah, there's an IRC channel? Where?? I desperately need an extension cable aswell :(

annaheim 1 point 55 months ago

Yes, just visit the #reddit-buildapc channel on freenode server and ask for Lavins or Jappetto.

vikingXcore 4 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Welcome to the 450d club! I didn't check to see if your Psu was modular, but you could probably buy a CPU cable or extension on amazon though. Good build!

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Its modular, and thanks :)

CraZed. 1 Build 1 point 56 months ago

I love that Mobo.

POPTART2014 1 Build 1 point 56 months ago

Nice build...Sabertooth +1 love these boards..

Rajenator 1 point 56 months ago

+1 nice build

NewCarSmell 1 point 56 months ago

im going to make a 1800 dollar build next year with the money im making from a school job(9 dollars a day but will make 1800 by the end of the year.) One thing i have to critize is the sabertooth over a maximus or other ROG board. Also for the future when you crossfire you probably will want to do a water cooling loop it will look sexy and will cool even better(i know you might think impossibe but imagine 4.5ghz @ 35c and thats just the beginning of the awesomeness of water cooling.

NewCarSmell 1 point 56 months ago

no i was just telling you want i would do different i was just telling you about where i was getting the money. im in 9th grade 12yrs old.

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Oh crap sorry bro, misread lol. I only read the first few words and thought you were going to ask for an opinion on a build! I would defo do custom water loop, but WHAT if there's a spillage? It's just too much maintenance for me. Also, I love the way the sabertooth looks, and I love the armor kit. If I had the extra money I'd have gone ROG or Maximus! Once again sorry, and good luck with your build :)

NewCarSmell 1 point 56 months ago

no prob bro. As long as you test your loop( basically use real life prime95 and stress test your loop for 24hrs lol) and then if it dont leak your good. The asus still is a great mobo. Thanks man.

BaSkA 1 point 55 months ago

Are there any reasons for not using the motherboard fans (50mm I think) that come with the MARK 1?

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

I would, but I don't know how to LOL

BaSkA 1 point 55 months ago

Err... the manual or google might help.

I believe the fan in the middle of the motherboard has 3 screws and it's not hard to install and the back one I have no clue.-

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

I'll have to look for them, I will probably install them, but they don't do anything over than remove dust I think.

BaSkA 2 points 55 months ago

Well, "anything other than remove dust" is a lot on the long term. Or else, you will have to remove the TUF armor in the future to clean the MOBO, really not worth it.

Thanks anyways.

Tahab_1 submitter 2 Builds 1 point 55 months ago

Will be installing soon :)

pcaddiction -12 points 56 months ago

Why did you get a 280? dude might as well get a ******* 290x for the price of your build...you couldve gotten a cheaper key board and mice and a much cheaper monitor. then use that extra $$$ on the GPU and you could've done something about the CPU...AMD GPU's are better when paired with AMD CPU's so why even bother with Intel when you Could've gotten a FX series CPU?

RyneSmith 7 Builds 6 points 56 months ago

Uh he got a 290 tri-x, learn to pay attention. Intel CPUs own AMD's, an i5 outperforms the 8320/8350 pretty regularly.

Peripherals are peripherals and personal choices so it doesn't really matter what you think of his choices.

Negative comments like this aren't really welcome here, enjoy your down votes.

coolguy562 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Fanboy alert, intel generally beats amd but not all the time, depends on what you're doing and how many cores the program can take advantage of, future games are gong to start to utilize more than 4 cores, so watch out intel.

RyneSmith 7 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Not a "fan boy" I simply made my statement based on tons of research and being on this site for awhile.

AMD has great CPUs don't get me wrong, but if you're not building a budget PC, Intel is the way to go.

coolguy562 2 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

Or if you can take advantage of more cores and generally higher base clocks.

RyneSmith 7 Builds 1 point 56 months ago

And higher temps with more power draw, inferior manufacturing process, etc etc.

Not trying to measure d*cks here man.

EcoMCG 1 Build 3 points 56 months ago

I think you should stay away from computers for a little bit and see a doctor....

CarterBond 2 points 56 months ago

Just gonna point out everything thats not right, FOR YOU.
