+ Total (Canada):
Well, after reading reddit, PC Partpicker, and various technology web sites, I decided to build a new gaming computer. I fell in love with the Thermaltake A31 Snow White case, and I decided that I was going to try to match its colors: everything had to be white, black or blue or a combination thereof. I think I succeeded with most parts (you’ll see where I haven’t in the pictures). However, that ended up being an expensive endeavor. I couldn’t find a video cards with that color scheme. Well, after some research, I finally found one: the Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon 290.
It’s been a while since I built a complete computer from scratch (I think my last one was an Athlon XP 1800). I’m currently running the i5-4670K at 4.0 GHz (never overclocked before, I guess I need to read up on that… it crashes at 4.2 GHz, but that’s using the ASRock A-Tune software automatic setting, so…probably would be able to improve upon that slightly). Temps are: idle, hovering around 32C and using Prime95, it climbs to around 65C max.
One advise, if you’re going to use a Corsair H100i with this motherboard, make sure to get small rubber grommets to use as spacers, because the back plate doesn’t fit quite right otherwise (my temps were running about 20C higher because of that).
Let me know what you think!
