Description

although it is my first experience with building computers, i built it like a beast. i'm getting really high fps in games running at max settings. in just cause 2 i reach about 190-240 and in minecraft i hit over 2000! i am super satisfied with all of the hardware and would recommend a lot of the parts.

Part Reviews

CPU

i didn't have any issues with this processor. none at all. it runs like a beast and conquers any games i run on it. my only real issue was the stock cooler, but i replaced tat anyways. with 4.0 base GHz and 8 cores you cant go wrong with this one.

CPU Cooler

a great cooler that can keep your processor running chilled. i put it at 4 stars because if you don't have enough room it can be annoying. it actually took me 2 days to install it just because i did not have great clearance between my CPU and the 2nd fan of the cooler, but i later found out the 2nd fan is not required for it to run. great compromise if you cant have a double wide radiator.

Motherboard

AMAZING. i really loved this motherboard and all it has to offer. only one complaint. the i/o shield was pretty annoying to install correctly. it would want to fall out on its own. it got to the point were i had to bend some of the connectors, but i don't use the ports i covered with the bent metal. that could ruin this board for some people, but i love it still.

Memory

16 gigabytes of ddr3 1866 ram for about 60 bucks. what more could you want?

Storage

i think this might be the best gigabyte to dollar ratio out there. $50 and you get a whole terabyte. no reason for ssd.

Video Card

amazing graphics card. i tend to say that about a lot of things on my build, but i really mean it. my games run flawlessly on max settings. i would recommend this to anyone who is willing to spend a little more for a card. stylish too.

Power Supply

so this psu works as good as any other, but i wish i used a modular instead. it would have been worth the extra 30 bucks. i'm still satisfied with the performance in every way, but the extra wires had to go somewhere. would have given 5 stars but i felt like there was too many wires, but its better safe than sorry i guess.

Optical Drive

$15. works as it should. a little loud, but hey it does its job.

Operating System

kindove a necessity to have, but i just think it was a little pricey, but hey what do i know.

Wireless Network Adapter

i have very mixed opinions here. on one hand you have high performance and extremely high mbps, but on the other hand you have bad customer service, driver issues, and sometimes it just wont work without any reason. it still runs great and can get higher speeds than my service provider can dish out. (bout 117 mbps)

Case Fan

i got a two blue ones and a white one for my build. they help my pc stay really ventilated and removes hot air. a bit expensive if you need three but they work great.

Monitor

works amazing, gets a 60hrzs refresh rate (you don't need more) and is a great size for me. color looks bright and clear, while at the same time it doesn't over illuminate the room.

Keyboard

this keyboard feels great to type on and its nice and spacious. i love the backlit, although full rgb would be nice. for the asking price i dont think you could find it any better.

Mouse

really nice mouse, especially for the price. works like a charm and gets the job done. the two thumb buttons can be a little awkward at times in some games, but they are really great to bind to melee attacks and drift buttons.

Headphones

its a headset that ive had for almost 2 years now. great sound quality and the wireless works perfect up to about 25 feet. after long hours of playing it can start to get uncomfortable around the ears. i would have given it 4 stars, but the customer service is great. about a year after i got my first one, the left ear sound stopped playing. i submitted a support ticket, and they sent me anew one for free!

Speakers

sound is alright for youtube or maybe pandora. i just use them for the sake of having them. but you cant argue with the price.

First of all, why is there an apple sticker? Also, why the USB 3.0 wifi adapter, why not PCI-E, anyways, good build

i don't know exactly. i just put the sticker on it, the one that came with my iphone. i tried using a pci-e, but the card wasn't picking up my router very well. i got like .5 mbps. its still installed.

Get a new monitor. Either 1440 res or 144hz. All those frames are being wasted. Otherwise run a higher res and scale it down for your monitor.

Also you should get an M.2 SSD for that board. Would really round out this high end system.

i'm a little biased against high end monitors and ssd at the moment. i just think that they both are unnecessarily expensive , especially the ssd. the gigabyte per dollar just doesn't compare to a 50 dollar hard drive. and i defiantly need the whole terabyte. within the first week of having it built, i already filled half the drive.

I think the 970 was a waste then unless you plan on future upgrades. A 380x would perform perfect for your needs on a 1080 monitor. With the money saved you could have gone with 3 or 4 TB of storage then.

970 is perfect for 1080p can't really handle 1440p

Very low quality psu upgrade asap get like a good evga unit instead this unit is not rated well at all as well as very low quality components used in it my suggestion look at johnnygru.com for psus best psu website

taz-the-donkey submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Really? Ive had this power supply for quite some time. It seems to work fine.

Bigbadaje 1 point 29 months ago

Very low quality thoe you need a good psu especially for the cpu and gpu of your pc it could fry itself and pop the capacitors are not high quality try to look at the power supply tier list for help on tomshardware
