Description

Created this build for a close friend who would play mmos on his really old laptop until one day it fried. This was built for him to actually play comfortably from his TV as well as study for his classes. I ordered as well built the little machine. All the parts came out as amazing and the cable management was tricky but doable.
He loves his little machine and has delightfully named it Tardis.

Only issue is it likes to restart right after a full shutdown. Still haven't figured out the issue.

I'll also, be slowly updating the pictures with more of the completed build and it's insides.

JonnyGURU indicates that the power supply is fine but not great. For another $10, the EVGA 100-W1-0430-KR is a better quality unit. I like this thing overall, though. You get a +1.

But its not even pulling half of its wattage rating, so I dont it even matters.

What does that have to do with anything?

Pulling 300w or 100w, the unit still isn't good.

It runs great and the power out the wall is within what we were looking for. The only gripe I have is the fan. The noise overpowers every other fan inside but not enough to be heard from a couch.

It runs great

The only way to test that is to have proper equipment like an oscilloscope.

This isn't fine. It's borderline trash.

Check all your devices wake up settings. Make sure they are all set to "off" in "Wake from shutdown" in device properties under power management. Almost bet it's Waking while on WAN. Nice little MMO/HTPC setup :) Hope that helps

I thought that too. I've checked all preferences as well as checked the front panel connections. Nothing fixes it, but surprisingly it doesn't happen anymore. :/ Confused the hell out of me.

For a moment I got really excited that someone put a build in a toaster oven.

Dang seeing this case makes me wish I forked out a little extra cash for my new build. Looks great, hope your friend enjoys it!

I know I'm late, but I like this build. Smaller than a toaster, but does it get as warm?

Thumbs up.+1

It does not. It works like a charm!

It is an amazingly cute toaster PC. It sits next to my buddy's Tv and just looks great.

Don't be "that guy" pls... There are actually people out there that are on a pretty tight budget and only play stuff like Dota 2, LoL, CS:GO so a G3258 and 750Ti is all they need. And no I'm not that kind of person that would buy this. But for OP's friend this should be fine.

OP's friend will hopefully get it early enough that this isn't a real gaming build, yeah.

It can be upgraded but by the time he'd want to upgrade, we'd probably be past the next next next nvidia and intel generation. So upgrading was an afterthought for him. As long as he can just browse the web, use word, and play maybe two or three games; he is happy.

Huh? I have mine paired with an r9 380 and it maxes most all the games I play.

I was thinking of getting that for him, but it was over our budget. Plus, he plays only one game religiously and the 750ti maxes it out.

Overclock it to like 4GHz and it's really good and can play most games, unless they are more CPU demanding ones like GTA it Cities:Skyline

If only sirnicko :/ He's only wanting it to play pretty much one game so overclocking it wasn't really an issue. I might just overclock while he's not at his home. Ninja overclock, to be exact.

Cheap components and poor college students make a great combo. It runs good for him and it's all the power he needed and wanted.
I also agree, I am so happy he chose this case. It's an amazing little box.

Homer??? Are you feeling ok? You know you are supposed to be at the Power Plant or Drinking or Munching on donuts...?

JK I feel you, but my freind is going up from a peintum and gaming options are extremely limited... I know the TI is dated but.... yeah its pretty dated. Check my build and rate it please!

I feel the same, ya it sucks to have to point out things like this because people get mad. The g3258 should not be used anymore.

What's wrong with that CPU for gaming?

My brother runs on a very thight budget, and that was just the CPU to go with OC.

I mean you can OC this thing to 4Ghz without any problems at all (And the TDP is a dream compared to the devils canyon CPUs). What actually counts in gaming is the clock so I don't see why this can't be used for gaming.

My brother mainly plays Arma 3, MC, cs:go and some other games, so this is just right for him to play everything on low to mid settings at 1080p with an Asus GTX 640.

However the "big" investment on the CPU was the best he could have done. (Compared to an old AMD which he used for a year)

greez
