Description

This is a game center and workstation all-in-one build.

I mostly use it for (web) development, studying and a little bit of gaming.

The goal was to buy the cheapest, and most silent components without any real limitation for my use cases.

CPU: I have replaced a Core-i3 6100 with this one, I got a good offer from a local merchant. Fast and has a low TDP

CPU cooler: Good choice for any CPU without overclocking. It's mostly running on 800RPM in my system, except for longer gaming, and it keeps my CPU really cool - around 31°C for browsing, and 50°C for gaming.

SSD: I have the 840 for more than 3 years now, it outlasted two notebooks, but it has limited storage capacity. Now I bought a 250GB 850 EVO, and I hope it will be as reliable as the older brother.

PSU: REALLY silent. I love the semi passive cooling design, and it's still quiet with spinning fan. It's fully modular, with good quality cables, so it was a joy to install it.

CASE: It's a cheap case, and I think it has the best quality and usability for the price, but it's not great. The wiring space is really small, the included fans are noisy, and the HDD can make the whole case vibrate (I used some foam on the sides of the drive). Good choice for the money, but has limitations. The window on the case is self made, like in this old tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WpZoE-zj0-k

CASE FANS: One of the most quiet fan, that I have ever heard, and has nice red lights - not as bright as on the pictures.

I have calculated the prices from hungarian Forint (incl. VAT) - on the rate 1USD = 277.8HUF

+1 for using a book as a monitor stand. I like double monitor setups, but it might've looked better if you got the same 2 monitors.

Thank you! First I bought the LG, and after a few weeks I wanted to buy a second one, but it sold out everywhere, and this Acer was the closest in spec and looks. :(

Nice budget machine.

Describe your meaning of "budget". He spent $1400, doesn't sound like a budget. It is a nice build though. +1

The title...

"BUDGET GAME AND WORKSTATION, WITH CUSTOM CASE WINDOW, UPDATED LOOK"

Apparently it was a great budget.

True. Just doesn't sound like a budget to me.

This is me being a smart ***

"budg·et ˈbəjət/ noun 1. an estimate of income and expenditure for a set period of time."

I liked the title saying budget and it costing nearly twice what is considered a budget gaking pc here.

Nice budget

Thank you! If you check the part list, it's $1400 with dual monitors, headphones, etc. These parts don't usually counted in the budget builds here, but I think It's an important part of the cost. And bear in mind, the price is converted from HUF, the parts are usually more expensive here.

I would recommend upgrading the GPU as well when you decide to upgrade. I switched to an i5 from an i3 and still feel recent games @ 1080p aren't running very smoothly because the GTX 960 is starting to reach its limits.

Thank you! As I stated I'm a casual gamer, I can live with medium graphics and/or sub 60 fps, but the CPU is important for my work, what has a bit higher priority for me.
