Description

Hello! This is my first build and i would love feedback, Thanks!

I have been saving and researching for over a year for this PC, and it felt unreal ordering the parts. Coming from a laptop which couldn't fill my needs of what i wanted to do, i needed something semi-powerful so i could play heavy games, edit videos and edit/create pictures, and after getting settled into this computer it is difficult to think that i was doing everything i was on my laptop! This machine boots up 200% faster, runs games 1000% better and multitasks without a hitch!

Part Reviews

CPU

Multitasks like a beast, it is a great CPU for the money!

Motherboard

I really like it, it's got a clean bios and a great manual, and won't stuff up your color scheme!

Memory

It's 8 gb and it's fast! SANIC FAAST!

Storage

It's a terabyte so it can store all my completely legally obtained files, and remove them quickly in case of an emergency.

Video Card

It's a hungry beast, that munches through 1080p gaming, silently, like no there is no tomorrow! And it doesn't use much power!

Case

A great case with great cable management holes! Although i wish i could figure out how to take out the SSD cage. No cuts for me!

Power Supply

I never needed this much power but i wanted a high quality power supply, and that's exactly what i got! The cables are a bit stiff at the ends, so for tight cases the do need a bit of wrestling to plug in.

Wireless Network Adapter

Doesn't pick up my internet signal very well, not a lot of range on it as well. I would recommend it's 3 pronged brother and spend a bit more of you hard earned cash.

Monitor

It's a great monitor, nice colors.

Keyboard

A bit clunky but it should really only be a place holder.

Maybe a SSD (Intel 530 series 240 GB?) and maybe a i5-4950k

Why the 530 series when the 730 series is out?

I am considering getting an SSD, and i do like the sound of an Intel 530 or 730 series SSD. But i think i will stick with my current CPU as coming from a laptop i don't need much to tickle my fancy :D

Don't need an aftermarket cooler for most locked Intel chips.

the current stock cooler does a good enough keeping it at a toasty 35 degrees Celsius at idle :D

Replace that PSU. The G1 units are terrible. Really poor performers.

What better PSU would you recommend for this build?

Anything from Antec, XFX, Seasonic, EVGA (G2,B2,GS)

Right now there is a Seasonic 520w PSU on sale for pretty cheap.

XD no, it is not a 'What about Bob?' reference. More of a: Me: "What shall I call him?" Friends: "BOB!" Thanks for the +1!
