Description

So, after finally getting approval from my dad to build a PC for hopefully switching to PC gaming and working on computer design, I hopped on the opportunity and built this beast. And yes, I do realize I probably could have gotten a better MoBo, and yes I could have gotten a more budget friendly case, but in the end I think It looks awesome.

CPU--------------------------------------------------------------------- I started with an i3 6100 and lga1151 socket because I wanted 6th and 7th gen upgradability. But, then about a month later a Micro center by me has a used i5 6500 for 140 bucks. So out with the slightly old and in with the probably older. This thing kicks butt, though, and lets me run Beam NG Drive at almost full settings on a stock cooler. LOL

MoBo-------------------------------------------------------------------- I wanted a reasonable board, because I was on a budget, but then this stupid thing comes by and gets my attention. I wish I would have done some more research on MoBo and hopefully see if I could find a good used Z170 but the red LEDS around it kind of got me for this Red and Black themed build.

Ram---------------------------------------------------------------------- Looks good. Does Its job. I actually have a 2133 kit in but whats the difference.

Storage------------------------------------------------------------------ I bought mine second hand so it is kind of loud ever once in a while, but it works.

Graphics Card---------------------------------------------------------- I wanted a Red and Black card and MSI was the only brand who to my knowledge had that. But, since I was on a tight budget, I only could get the 2 gb version. Again, looks over performance got me but whatever. I hope to upgrade in the coming months.

Case----------------------------------------------------------------------- I really love this case. I really do. If I were to build a 20,000 dollar build it would be in this case. Cable management is on point, Its got a big window and the 3.5 inch drives and PSU are out of the way. Nice one NZXT.

PSU------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nothing to say, it works.

Thanks!

And please, if you have any recommended case fans, LEDS or any upgrades, please tell me, I am always curious to know what you think.

Part Reviews

CPU

I like it a lot, it can hold up well on CPU intensive games and I got it used. GG

Motherboard

Its got Red LEDS but other than that it is just an over priced H110 board. I do like the red though.

Memory

They look clean with a gloss red paint and fit really well with MSI Red.

Video Card

Looks good, performs good too, from what I saw. I wish I would have gotten the four gb version but this works well.

Power Supply

I like it, nothing else to say really, if only it were modular I guess.

I would recommend that you get a better PSU if you plan on upgrading in the future. or maybe getting a modular one just for looks. those cheap EVGA units are not great with longevity but its not an immediate threat. I personally would have opted for a 1050 ti as it is up to $50 cheaper and about the same performance. Still a great build tho I love the colors

Yea, the PSU was one of the things I wanted to save on because I wanted beefier parts :-P At the time of building this, the 1050 ti wasn't out yet, but if it were I probably would have opted for it. Thanks for checking it out!

I understand that you were on a budget but, if I were you I would have opted for an atx motherboard. Seeing how you said that you are going to upgrade the GPU in the coming months I cannot judge there. Besides the empty looking case, I think you did a pretty good job.

Yea, like I said, I was too distracted by the H110m Gaming boards lights to figure out I could have gotten something better. Oh well, it give me something to do If I want to replace the board. Thanks!

Kudos on the clean interior cabling. I prefer minimalist style, so this current trend of sticking "stuff" inside the case (like your truck) isn't my cup of tea, but if it's what you like go for it, as you did. It doesn't detract from the overall look of the build, and the super clean interior makes up for it (to me).

Very nice, hope you get a lot of hours of enjoyment out of this rig.

Thank you for the kind words!

I figured with the amount of space in the case, I could add something to spruce it up.

I like the build, future tip with a graphics card though. With the new "Pascal" series, or the 10 series, I would pick up a card, preferably the 1050ti. The same cost but almost a 30% boost in performance. That and the cooler is better so you can overclock that summabirch. So yeah. Just a hint.

Take care

Yeah I would upgrade now but I don't have money or really a desire to upgrade at the moment, but when I do it will probably be a 1060 6 gb. Thanks!

If you want to get some LED Case Fans, I recommend Corsair SP120 Red LED fans, good air flow, quiet and decently bright LEDs, i have white ones in my build. I would 1 SP120mm and 1 SP140mm

120mm: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/JTvRsY/corsair-case-fan-co9050019ww 140mm: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GdNp99/corsair-case-fan-co9050024ww
