Description

My wife was interested in getting involved with the PC gaming community and I was more then happy about that. Well, I may have suggested that she get into it but still. nonetheless she was interested in having a rig built. Hated most every case that i think most PC enthusiasts would find to be top tier. In the end we ended up going with the S340 elite in white to match her theme of white and aqua/teal.

i5-6600k was chosen since she does not have any intentions of doing any productivity such as editing... strictly gaming and general tasks. No overclocking on that CPU yet but hoping to get into it soon.

Corsair H50 cpu cooler was chosen due to a great sale that we got on it.

Asus ROG rx480 8gb was used in this build... im not brand loyal im value conscious. my rig has a gtx 1070 and for the money we decided to go with the amd rx480 over the gtx 1060. Also, we are able to get a freesync monitor and actually use the feature instead of having to spend extra for a Gsync monitor.

Asus Z170-ar motherboard was used in this build, also due to a great sale price. Had an issue updating the motherboard drivers but in the end was able to get everything to work. It looks great and the white accents help the overall build concept.

G.Skill TridentZ RGB ram... omg this ram is so nice IMO. some people may think its over the top to have rgb ram but hey... to each their own. one of the first builds that I've seen that have this ram. i love it... kinda jealous also.

OCZ 120 gb ssd for windows os and the standard wd blue 1tb hdd

Corsair cxm 450w semi modular psu worked perfect for this build... bought some aqua/teal cable extensions and they look awesome

nzxt s340 elite white case is sexyyyyy i love it. second time building in this case and its a breeze. i have the same case but in white. it is just SIMPLE and CLEAN.... kinda like how i love my cars (other passion)

overall this PC is doing everything we wanted it too. gaming at great frame rates but most importantly now we can both spend time together doing something we both enjoy. cheesy? maybe... whatevs

p.s We're in the process of working on getting her all her peripherals such as keyboard and monitor. She is using the logitech g933 snow edition headset and a ajazz mouse. Work in progress.

I love everything about this build! The color scheme is excellent and all of the components seem to tie into each other. For the parts that you have in this rig, you get a lot of computer for around $1000. Props to you good sir and excellent build!

  • 2 points

NZXT sell them, they call it a puck, it under accessories, here a link to it https://www.nzxt.com/product-overview/puck and i believe some of the NZXT cases come with one but im not a 100% sure on that, NZXT is the only seller i know of.

Right now it's only included with the S340 Elite.

Is your SSD a OZ TL100? Since the part list confused me for a moment.

Otherwise, this build is beautiful. I'm certain your wife appreciates you for doing this and is enjoying it very much. Well done! +1

  • 1 point

It is... had to adjust the ssd and the mobo since pcpartpicker didn'thave those options for some reason

  • 1 point

You can add your SSD with the URL when adding Another Custom Part and than select "Create Part". It worked for me.

Yo.

Really really love this one. The aesthetic is so cool (literally) and even the RAM works well with this build. I'm currently building a PC with the NZXT S340 White and it was nice to see a build to get me even more excited about what's to come.

The white SSD works well with this also!

+1!!!

Newegg sells them by a brand called Kobra. They have some unique colors. Nobody else had anything close to the color we wanted. They have a few unique color options. Check them out.

  • 1 point

Not sureally if you still read the comments but this pc is insane for its process range. It has both my favorite colors and a well balanced theme. Also, did the 6600k get overclocked?

  • 1 point

Yes it's over clocked to 4.4ghz I believe

  • 1 point

Where'd you get the cable extensions? I can only find really expensive like full $100 sets for fully modular PSU's. How do these work with semi-modular?

They are perfect for semi modular and cheap. Newegg has them

Top left corner on the top of the motherboard! That's the 8-pin EPS cpu cable! :)

  • 1 point

Hello! Can you reply with a link to the sleeved cables you used? Also were they premade or did you have to sleeve them yourself?

Lovely build may I add, very clean!
