This is my work/everyday computer, gaming rig, video/picture editing machine etc. etc. I wanted something powerful, efficient, and clean.

All parts were bought around November/December of 2013. Wasn’t built until mid-January. Had to RMA the motherboard which was a pain in the rear. I was originally planning to buy a motorcycle but that dream was shot down… Midlife Crises maybe. So before anyone says it. Pics are before cable management. Cables are now looking crisp but too lazy to take off panels and take pictures.

CPU – While I was out of state for work my wife was in the D.C. area so I had her stop by Microcenter to pick up a 4930k.( They were having a pretty good deal at the time) Yes I said it 4930. I come home one month later to see a 4820k. Her rationale it was cheaper and it had a higher number… I love you babe. 30 days passed receipt expired. 3 hour drive to Microcenter… I just decided to keep it. Pretty good overclock on it so far. 4.7ghz. It can definitely go farther.

CPU Cooler- I just have to say getting the initial corsair link software to work on Windows 8.1 required a little forum searching to get a version that was compatible for some reason. Overall have to say it works great. Have good temps.

Motherboard – The X79 Deluxe has some amazing features. Half of which I probably will never use. (atleast im honest)

RAM – Alright. Custom engraved. I bought this ram because it had the OOOOO SHINY effect on me… Buy now.. No regrets... Man Mode [ON] OFF. It’s fast <3

SSD- Samsung Evo. What more is needed to say. Startup/shut down times amazing. Can launch CS6 and other applications in a few seconds.

HDD - Standard HD to store edited videos, pictures aka all media. I have 3 external drives lying around so space isn’t too much of an issue.

GPU – On this I decided go big and be happy. This card is a Monster. Will be getting a second one soon.

Case – I decided to go with the Fractal Midi R2. Sleek design. Tinted side panel. Spacious. Cable management. Removable HD trays. Everything I was looking for in a case.

Case fans – The fractal fans are nice. Not loud. Corsair fans… Definitely proud of that purchase. Good airflow and aesthetically pleasing.

PSU – This is overkill. I did it so I have a reason to buy a second GPU. :D

DVD Drive – Who needs it!

OS – Windows 8… Ok so I do not have many issues that can’t be easily modded. I spent multiple hours with Tech support having issues with the OS fixed. (Caused during installation I guess). Overall it works so I’m less irked by the situation.

Peripherals – Monitors are good for gaming. No complaints because that is their intended design. I need a better monitor to view pictures though. Triple monitor setup incoming. = wife mad. The mouse and keyboard. Love at first site. These keys are like acetaminophen to my ears.

Extra plans: Sleeved cables is a must.

Tell me what you think.

Nice desk, I have the same one and it almost seems impossible to keep clean because of the black finish. I still prefer it to the clear ones though.

I 100% agree with you. I find myself wiping this desk down every other day. Dust + smudges= enemy

Where did you find that ram, also do they sell 8gb dimms +1

azvodka submitter 1 Build 2 points 40 months ago

Sorry for the late reply. I just happened to check pcpartpicker. Anyways you can check out Avexir website at http://www.avexir.com/homepage.html . Check it out they have some cool new series out that are customize-able. They also have many different DIMM capacities available at different clock speeds. I would highly recommend especially if you are looking for something unique.

My question is did you buy that kit directly from them? That's the exact kit I want but the e-retailers suck and pcpartpicker doesn't even show a price for them on here. Half of them don't even show a price. It's the nicest RAM on the market right now IMHO! A friend and I currently building my second and him building his first PC are looking into Avexir but finding the color and speed we want with the motherboard compatibility is a nightmarish process. If you could help me out I would appreciate it! +1 on the build +2 on the RAM bro! ;)

Ok ignore the mobo compatibility issue just realized you have an X79 and the same exact CPU I plan to snatch soon LOL! Question though on the X79 does the LED ont he RAM flash around like it's supposed to?

Richness 1 point 38 months ago

Have you found any of the ram yet? I had no luck searching on ebay and amazon, newegg has some, but they're not the one's I want (dual channel kit) 16gb

thekasafist 1 Build 1 point 38 months ago

I have, Ebay has a better selection best I can find in a larger variety was one seller who has core series (black heat sink) with yellow, orange, blue, red LED options. She states to select the color by putting it in the description. It's 2x4GB DIMMs of 1600MHz CL9. On Ebay the seller is heather_d73 you can try to find her. Unfortunately she doesn't have the green LEDs.
