Description

Well, Building this PC has been a great experience for me. I first decided that i needed a new PC when my 1.5GHz Dual-Core Intel Celeron craptop was struggling to run TF2 @ lowest setting above 20fps. It's not much now, but I made this PC to have plenty of room for upgradabilty. A nice PSU, SLI compatible motherboard and a GREAT case. Some things I will definitely be upgrading will be getting a GPU, upgrading to a Quad-Core, adding some RGB LEDs (Obviously) and I'm also planning on doing a custom loop in this baby in a few years. I'm so excited that this thing actually works.

So, I guess I'll talk about the build process now? I'm just going to say now though, I spent about an hour every day on PCPP, so once I actually ordered the parts I had absolutely nothing to do. As soon as everything arrived I immediately started putting things together. The build actually went MUCH more smoothly than I expected. Except for the CPU cooler and putting the HDD on the bracket backwards... twice. The next day I went to power it on ready to install windows, I press the on button... and nothing happens, no response, no lights, no beeps, no boops, nothing. My first thought was "I bet the motherboard died". I panicked a little... ok maybe a lot. Turns out I just plugged a SATA cable in wrong. The computer booted up, I installed windows pretty easily and now I'm here I guess.

One last thing, I'd like to thank everybody who helped me out on here. Everybody who responded to my "First Build Need Help" threads on the forum really helped me out. Thanks for helping me getting me here. I'm so glad this website exists. (BTW Jipster, if you're reading this, I'm glad you're back :) More pictures and reviews in description to come.

Part Reviews

Memory

Quite fast, looks good, not much else to say. Ram is Ram

Case

This case made my first build a breeze. Amazing cable management, great airflow and as a plus reservoir mounting support. Glad I picked this over the S340

Power Supply

Great PSU, Fully modular, black sleeved cables, so no "ketchup and mustard" cables. Got it for $20 off.

+1 +1 +1 I absolutely love seeing people care about having a quality power supply in their budget builds, no matter how overkill it is in this case. You sir, have all my respect.

It's a nice budget build. You don't want a video card in there?

Nice PC, I am actually thinking of making something like this.

Kudos for you on planning ahead and adding a good power supply!

The 750W was a little over kill. The respect for the high quality is strong though. I would suggest getting the new Skylake i5 and getting the "mistery" mid-range pascal GPU.

Honestly, some parts in this build a way overkill. First off, you have a brilliant Tier 1 (I think it may be tier 2) PSU. Well done. You didn't go for something crappy like a CX. But there is a 550W PSU. If you don't have much power being consumed and are using a large power supply, it can actually cause all sorts of problems, anything from surges, and is not energy efficient. Second is why did you go with a Z170 motherboard? You have a locked CPU. Unless you plan to upgrade to a unlocked CPU or care about some features lime M.2 it is a waste of money. With this money saved, you could have got an SSD and not some slow mechanical drive.

Apart from that, its good. You could also have proabably got an i3 6100 if you got the 550w PSU and a H110 motherboard. Just puttin' it out there ****
