Description

This is my H400i build where i have tried to stick with the white and purple colour scheme.

Its been over 10 years since i have built a PC so i thought i would give it another go and live the good old glory days.

I managed to get all the parts ordered in the black Friday sales so i managed to save a few pound here and there but paid over the top on some parts just for the while and purple colour scheme (mobo, cooler & fans). Overall the PC build alone cost me ~£1080, this is because i ended up getting the 970 EVO for free as Amazon accidentally sent me two instead of one so i sold the spare for £100.

I customised a number of parts in the case such as the drive bay holder, the front of the case chassis and the fans, i used a tin of regular white and purple spray paint to get these the colours i wanted. I also had to drill out a hole in the front of the case in order to get my CPU Radiator pipes where i wanted them going through the top off the case.

The cables in the case are from Ebay SHAKMODS.

Photos taken on Google Pixel 2 XL.

I dont want to scare you or keep you on edge but make sure to keep an eye out on that cpu cooler. I had the same one not even within 3 months it popped around the pump and leaked all over my gpu. Luckily my gpu has a back plate and didnt suffer any damages otherwise the company would've had a nice bill of $600. I've also heard from plenty of other reviews and known reviewers that it has leaked on them as well. So I put this out for you so you take the precaution, otherwise it was a great cooler. Enjoy! I personally love this build and this color scheme with purple being my favorite color.

Thank you :), yeah I was thinking of ordering a backplate to cover my gpu. Yeaheard similar comments about it leaking so I done a bit of research before I purchased it. Apparently they are good coolers and the people they have leaked on deepcool offer to replace all the damaged parts so I thought I would risk it, fingers crossed as I have probably jinxed myself now ha. Yeah I liked the colours, pretty happy with the build, looks clean on my desk and has managed to run everything on ultra so far. Its amazing how much computers have came along in 10 years, especially with the SSD's. It took a few minutes to install windows where as on my old computers it was a good hour or two.

Where did you find those purple cables? I can find them anywhere.

Lobsterareawesome 8 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

cablemod

diypartsjoy 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

I thought they didn't make purple cables?

diypartsjoy 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

Can you send me a link to what you bought. I have looked all over there site and can't find anything.

I bought by Cables from Ebay SHAKMODS, see link :). Just search for the colour and cable type you want.

Thank you so much for the help!

Lobsterareawesome 8 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

If you order custom made ones they do I think.

diypartsjoy 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

No, they don't. But it is fine. Shakmods will work.

Lobsterareawesome 8 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah they do... Im looking right at it. You need to make them yourself in the configurator. They do offer purple ones if you order them custom made

FletchFire 2 points 2 months ago

did you need a mounting adapter to fit the cpu cooler onto the mother board?

HailRussell 1 point 2 months ago

The 240ex series comes with intel and amd brackets included

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

The CPU cooler comes with a mounting adapter for both Intel and AMD processors :)

Slick build man. Really like your colour scheme!

SonsBlud 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Looks good man! Personally, i think I'm gonna go with Micro ATX next time myself, they look so much better & there's no wasted space.

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Yeah i always like the idea of a smaller computer, check out Mini-ITX builds, especially the DAN Cases A4-SFX, it is one hell of a small casse for a small build. Thats my aim for my next build.

I like the build it was a really nice touch with the cablemod cables. Most people would use the stock cables. Also are they extensions or full length?

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

They are extensions, the black stock cables that came with my PSU are hidden behind the back of the case with the extensions attached to them leading to the front.

What website did you buy the Mobo off of bc I want to get it for my build but can’t find anywhere which sells it?

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Hi i bought mine off amazon. MSI B450M titanium.

What do you mean by drill holes in the front of the case for the radiator pipes? Have this aio and want to get h400 so what do you mean exactly?

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

To get the pipes where I wanted them (above and through the top bit) the radiator needed to mounted at a high position however the pipes clashed with the metal chassis that holds the fans and therefore I needed to drill a hole out. If I didn't do this then the pipes would of run through the centre of the case and not the top. I would need to upload a picture to show exactly what I mean. If you look at another h400i build you will see where the pipes would of went with this particular cooler. This seems to be the only problem with the CPU cooler as people with nzxt coolers don't seem to have this problem.

HailRussell 1 point 2 months ago

Did you overclock ur cpu and how far too?

ChrisHumphreys submitter 1 Build 1 point 1 month ago

Nothing in my system is overclocked. Everything is at the base speeds :) I have found no need to try overclocking as of yet. I think the parts I have would not have a lot of head room to overclocking anyway, if I had a 2600 instead of a 2600X I would of overclocking :)

Great build I'm trying to do something similar, I don't know if you have considered the H200 case, but if you did what made you decide on the H400?

Looks Class, i feel like i need to add an extra RGB light strip now and adjust them now to make my case look even more purple. I might put it in tonight and see how it looks as i got a spare with the case.
