Built this as a cheapest you can get no overkill ultra 1080p gaming, multimedia build, complete with OS and daily use niceties such as large hdd and ssd for quick use and media storage too. Very quiet but cheap and cool build the only thing I can hear is the hard drive. Why long distance lover? Landed here in Canada a few months ago, been working my *** off but left my girlfriend back home. Need something to invest in for now before I get her to live here with me.
Coming from macbooks, i7 gaming laptops, this is way faster. Games I've tried like Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 are solid at ultra 1080p and everyday tasks are smooth. I'm happy I've never tried desktop i5 or i7's cause I don't have anything to compare it to cause it's just that fast that I don't feel any desire, envy or need for i5's or i7's.
Quiet. Keeps my skylake i3 pretty cool.
Difficult to install. After installation my motherboard temps got higher, I think cause the heatsink is too fat/wide and it fights with airflow. Will replace with tower cooler soon.
Honestly no difference from pre-applied stock compound of intel cooler and arctic cooler. But you just have to have one especially if you plan on switching or upgrading coolers.
I don't really know what to write about motherboards. But this one is dead simple and all advertised functions work. Even has fan control for non-PWM fans. If you plan on using more than 1 case fan be sure to order splitters as it only comes with 1 case fan header and 1 CPU fan header. Also the RAM slots are close to CPU slot so even though the RAM I'm using has low profile heat spreaders I had to install my low profile CPU heatsink in a different orientation from how it was supposed to be installed.
Low profile but has sleek heat spreader, no overkill look and the black with white text is just aggressively simple.
Can't ever go back to HDD for OS, and this is plenty fast for plenty cheap too!
2 stars for being cheap for 2tb, missing 3 stars cause it's just noisy at idle! Doesn't even follow windows 10's power control management!
Cheap! Cheap! Small enough micro ATX case without too much compromise. I mean check it out, you have cable management area in the back, removable drive cage with slide rails for 2 hard drives, you can install up to 5 120mm fans with 2 in front 1 in back 2 up top, there's 5.25 slot, lots of SDD mountings and the PSU installs the right way (intake at the bottom). Only thing I will change would be to use rubber for feet and rubber hdd rails to replace the plastic ones they use that's kinda noisy.
No need for "semi-fanless" cause I've never heard anything from this PSU even if I stick my ear on it's surface. No vibrations too! If only they used flat cables it would've been 5 stars.
Simple. Cheap. Doesn't turn on when not in use so super quiet. What more can you ask for?
Lowest setting has same performance of higher settings so just set it low and be amazed how silent and cool your rig will be. Also got them for $6 at NCIX a piece!
Keyboards good nice feedback sometimes too much sound like when typing at night I kinda go softer to not wake up everyone in the next room, and with dedicated media keys. Keyboard has no internal memory you have to press scroll lock on each boot to enable backlight otherwise you won't be able to read the keys. Mouse is pretty bad out of the box the scroller squeeked and it's too small for wired desktop mouse your hand will cramp up DPI switch also doesn't have memory. The wire is standard too not braided so it gets in the way.
