This is my attempt on modding a Power Mac G5 case.

I made a PSU Shroud and Cable Cover Plate to have a clean look inside the G5. Also a custom sticker for the PSU which cannot be seen as I covered it with the PSU Shroud.

I already changed some peripherals which can be seen on my Facebook photo album.

The 3 x Seagate Barracude 2TB I have are used for Raid5 where I used a HDD Cage from a CM Master Case Pro 5 that can be seen in a photo here.

The Toshiba 2.5 hdd and Samsung SSD is underneath the motherboard. Which I am dual booting Win 10 and Osx El Capitan.

I used a Primochill Reservoir, EK Gpu water block and fittings, and Thermaltake Liquid Cooling Parts.

Some of my LCS photos may be different 'coz I made 2 revisions for the water cooling loop.

The one using the PrimoChill Reservoir is the latest build I have which anyone can view on my youtube link. :D

I delidded my i7 6700k and is running 4.6Ghz at 1.260v regularly.

Here is the Firestrike 1.1 Score in 3D Mark. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7278608

For any questions feel free to comment... thanks!

Update 9-19-2016:

Currently using 2 monitor. my Asus VG278HE and an iMac :D as of now I'm using the iMac's Target Display Mode for my G5. I honestly like my setup now. Gaming and Workstation. Dual booting Windows 10 and Hackintosh Osx El Capitan and a real Mac operating El Capitan. :D

Awesome build and mod, but what are the thermal pad looking things on near the 8 pin PCIE ports on the 980Ti? Is a heatsink missing there or something or are you maybe covering your serial number?

  • 1 point

that thermal pads was from the 1st mod... in my latest revision I removed it as it only gathers dust XD. the 980ti gpu block i have doesn't cover the whole pcb

Great build! I'm curious on how you made the sticker and where you got the emblem?

  • 2 points

sticker for the apple or the psu? i made it using photoshop and illustrator after i took the measurement of the psu's sticker. for the shield emblem, i measured the apple logo of the panel and made sure that the emblem will be a little larger than the apple logo. again, i traced the shield logo using illustrator, convert to pdf and bring to a laser cutting shop as i don't have yet the dremel motosaw to cut the logo. :)

  • 1 point

Yes, the sticker for the psu. That's fascinating you had the laser cutting shop make the logo. What material is it made out of?

  • 2 points

Ive actually got a G5 in the works right now. ive seen your build since your first posted it on the tonymac x86 forums.

Huh over 150 upvotes for a system using an old Apple Power Mac case??!!

Does this mean the ultimate dream PC for us all is an Apple Mac computer?? :p

  • 1 point

i think the case only XD because many really likes the beauty of the Mac G5/Mac Pro Case. really it was the best case for me ever since. i also like phanteks enthoo evolv, master case pro. but Mac G5 and Mac Pro Cases still ranks 1 for me :)

  • 2 points

Sweet build....always loved those cases, and you made it even better. Congrats on the featured build.

  • 2 points

Why would you cut a window hole in to that beautiful G5!? Otherwise, great build.

  • 1 point

if i don't want to show the setup inside I will maintain the original side panel. but I really wanna show the setup. :D

also, thanks!
