PC Soraya

by tomclaessens

The computer system of my daughter.

Take note: - we have the pink edition, not the red one (but it wasn't listed on PC Part Picker) - the PSU is the G450M, but as the Aerocool case, the 450M was not listed so I picked the 550M

My daughter is, at the time of writing, eight years old and uses it mostly for homework, assignments and some youtube viewing.

This is a cute little build. But I am confused on the memory prices. You could have gotten 2x 4gb 1600mhz for close to that price. Also wires could be tucked near that PSU compartment but I am just nitpicking. Great job!

Hi thanks for your comment. I've never followed "memory". So I usually look in the compatibility list of the mobo and try to find a physical store in my vicinity that has all the parts on stock and just drive up to the place. So in this case, the valueselect RAM was compatible (verified by MB manufacturer) and I had a store near me that had them in stock. But I admit, I should put a little bit more research in that.

For the wires, it still bothers me! But some are not long enough to go all the way around. Also (this is the research part) the case has 2 USB3s on the top, but the mobo only has USB2 support. So that's why it gets a bit bulky. I might redo some of it in the future, especially since this case is the window version

Memory compatibility lists for motherboards are more or less obsolete nowadays. The only parameters that might present compatibility issues would be voltage (not applicable to nearly all mainstream clocked (1333MHz or 1600MHz) kits), and channel spec (dual-channel kit for dual channel platforms, quad-channel for quad-channel platforms). Don't pick based on the MB manufacturer's list; you don't need to fret so much about compatibility for mainstream RAM kits.

The pictures look like bright pink! even though your case is a 'red' edition. Am I seeing this wrong? I can only gripe about the cable management but overall a good inexpensive build.

You're correct that it's the pink edition - but PCPartPicker hasn't the pink version listed, that's why I opted for the "red", since it's the same case and the closest to pink ;)

Okay good! I thought I was going crazy.

Does the case have good airflow with the front being blocked like that?

The black part between the pink front/top and side panels has holes. You can see on this photograph
