Description

I had to put together a decent computer together for a family member, and this being my first actual build, I think i did ok.

Can we get some more pictures? And why so much ram?

I'll take some more when i get the chance, and i accidentally put a second set of ram on the build page.

Nice build, but is there any reason for 16GB of RAM?

I accidentally put a second set of 8GB on the build but its not on the comp itself

What's that one set of wires hanging over the GPU?

Looks like the CPU and GPU power cables. The 740 is a rebranded 650, so it needs additional power.

I think I'm looking at the CPU power cablee, which should really be routed elsewhere. It looks like there's room at the top.

The case will only allow the CPU power to be routed through the top corner if you route the cable before putting in the motherboard. The case frankly sucks in many categories, that being one.

Yeah, for $65 I wasn't sure how good the backside of the tray would be for cable management.

Just eyeballing it, it doesn't look long enough to go around. That said, it could probably fit behind the motherboard tray.

Would have gone with 8gb ram and spent that money on a r9 270x but good job +1

thanks, and I accidentally added a second set of ram on the build page.

I want a "Purple People Eater" machine to be made. Purpleeee! I think you did ok too. Others are right by saying you don't need that much ram. But now that you have it, if you build another project you can steal half the ram from this and put it in the new one.

Did you have any problems with this build, since it was your first?

Thanks! And yeah, I did have a couple problems.

1)The cases slots for the optical drive and graphics card were actually welded to the case so I had to rip the metal pieces covering them off of the case with pliers and cut myself a couple times on it.

2) The graphic card's power cord would keep pulling it out of the PCI slot and I eventually got it to stop by tying it a certain way with cable ties.

I love that book.

What book? Purple People Eater? Or did you mean to spell "look" as in, I love that look?!

I've heard of the Purple People Eater, but if you did mean by saying, I love that book, I've never seen the book anywhere, so it's either the book is real and I've never seen it or ya need to type what you really mean!

Just trying to understand and get it straight! No need to insult me with presumptuous terms like Spelling-Nazi, which is overrated and ignorant if used on someone who takes offense to the word "Nazi" as those people were and are still considered monsters of World War 2, same goes for Nazi-wannabe's!

Haha no it was a typo I probably meant to say I love that look with the purple. Funny you reply 15 minutes ago cause I’m logging in for the first time in months because I’m gonna do a flight sim build
