Description

I was reading PC gaming news and saw an article about using a cardboard box for a case. I said, "What the heck, why not?" And promptly grabbed a box. I dissembled my torture PC, a ten year old HP OEM I use to mess around with without needing to worry about breaking crap. Everything is entirely held together with zip ties. No screws were used in this build. It's running Windows 10 Home, and can't run Minecraft. What is the point of this build? I do not know. This is probably very flammable, and I wouldn't advise using one of these indoors, especially with a 10 year old dust clogged PSU. Cheers!

Really, really nice aesthetic on this one. I can see you put a little time into it.

My only gripe is it looks like you forgot to install the IO shield -- a common mistake! ;-P

That was on purpose. I didn't feel like cutting it exactly to shape, but I'll probably add it later

I'm thinking you can cut an IO shield from a tissue box to add a further touch of class without going over-the-top. Or a pizza box lid if you want to stick with the brown theme. There is always so much to decide when it comes to presentation. I'm glad, though, that you didn't go hog wild with RGB in this build!

I actually have an I/O shield that cam w/ the mobo, so I think I might just spay paint it brown and tape it in place.

What kind of fire extinguisher are you using. You should build a automatic fire extinguisher.

We need rbg in there :p why? Think of the asthetics. You need some awesome rgb fans or lights to compliment that amazing case.

Plenty of extra space in this custom chassis. I'd throw in a dual water loop to fill it out and take advantage of that great air flow and rad space. Maybe even make of custom reservoir from the same material as the case! : P

+1 one my friend.

So... where did you clip the anti static wrist strap during assembly?

Hmm?

I didn't need to. I put my hand inside right after booting it up, and after ten minutes of it running. If you ran this for more than an hour I would keep an extinguisher nearby.

I like it. Let's be clear, this PC is complete ****! but I like the idea. I'm now wondering how good a PC case could be made from basically just cardboard...

You need one of those small white museum plaques on the side stating:

can i buy this?

  • 1 point

Nope. Not sellin. It would be much more fun to make your own! Just buy a cheap old OEM of ebay, some zipties and maybe some screws, and scrounge up a box. Other than the box, it's just like building a normal PC.

is it hard?

Nope. It just takes a little know how, and a screw driver. This project took about an hour in all.
