Description

The build speaks for itself. Made for a co-worker who had me make another one very similar for his son. Mostly used for playing World of Warcraft. 90+ fps easily during raids. Very enjoyable build for myself, personally.

I did tidy up the cables above the radiator visible in the pictures after the build was finished.

Part reviews below are limited. I only felt the need to add to a couple parts. Some things, like i7-6700k and GTX 1080 speak for themselves.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Aesthetically, I love the block itself. The logo's lighting effects are great. It's super easy to mount, much easier than some I've dealt with in the past. The radiator is an odd size, but that makes it unique. Love this cooler, just wish it were a little cheaper.

Motherboard

Phenomenal motherboard. All the connectors are in ideal places so cable-management with this board couldn't be easier. Looks great, and has a great UEFI/BIOS. On-board RGB effects are a neat plus. The I/O Shield would look better if it were black, but I suppose that's nothing a can of paint can't fix.

Case

Worth much more than the $90 you pay for it. Absolutely fantastic case by Phanteks. I highly recommend this case for anyone making a nice looking rig with plenty of build options. The magnetic RGB strip is a great addition. I was expecting another cheap adhesive solution, but was very happy to see magnetic. The colors are great, too. PSU basement is nice, and cable-management is super easy.

Thank you so much! I wish it were my personal rig, but I had a blast building her!

Very nice build! Is it possible to add a 5th fan up top. May be pointless, but curious.

Thank you! As far as the fans, easily. There are mounts for two up top. Wouldn't be pointless; odds are you'd just have 3 exhaust and 2 intake creating negative air pressure, so might get some dust build up around the case cracks and edges.

Hey nice build mate!

I'm looking at buying the Asus Strix gtx1080 OC (O8G) like yours but have read a tonne of bad reviews about their fans and defecting. They're apparently very loud and either spin like crazy and at different speeds or not at all :/

Any news on how yours is going?

TIA :)

Unfortunately this isn't my build. I made this for a co-worker. I have no idea how the GPU fans have been, bud. Sorry! While testing the build I didn't notice the fans though.
