Description

So this is my first build and I took my time looking for deals on certain parts and other stuff I didn't want to wait for to go on sale lol. I'm in college and I wanted to build a gaming/study setup that would be and look awesome!

CPU: I heard that this cpu is one of the best cpu's for gaming and it was in my budget.

CPU cooler: I got this one, because it was cheaper than the i80 liquid cooler. it was less than half of the cost of the i80. Yes, the cooler doesnt really fit into the case perfectly, but it does fit. I am able to have it fit by leaving the top screw of the window panel unscrewed and this brings enough room for it to just rest against the panel. Still looks good and you wouldnt have noticed if i didnt tell you.

Motherboard: For some reason, the motherboard listed isnt the motherboard i have. I got it at the same price, but i got the ASRock Extreme 6. Microcenter had a deal on it when you buy the cpu with it. i saved $80 on it alone.

Storage: I wanted an SSD for my OS to have 10sec startup times and i wanted alot of storage for what i want to install and keep on my computer. the 1TB harddrive did the trick perfectly.

Video Card: I was close to going with the gtx 780 i think, but talked to a few people and asked me, "why dont you just go with the new 970? it just came out" I heard it was either a big hit or miss. I took my chance with it and it is perfect. Wanted something to handle whatever i wanted to send its way, this does just that.

Case: I love the looks and it was on sale. i wanted the 410, but didnt go on sale during the timeframe i wanted to build my pc.

Power Supply: Just needed a power supply to go with my rig. This one was on sale and it had good wattage.

Optical Drive: didnt want one, but got one to install my OS.

Monitor: After looking around, this one has 1mm response time (i think thats the unit...mm right? idk...) and is perfect for gaming. looks beautiful. my other screen is my 32inch visio tv. i wouldve used it, BUT its waaaaay too big. i use it to view movies at night from my desktop.

Keyboard: I wanted a Chiclet keyboard. thats what feels good to me and i like the brand.

Mouse: Ive had this mouse. i dont like it, but it'll do for now.

Headphones: So i purchased this because im always getting calls from everyone all the time. it has a controller and port i can plug into my phone and answer my calls. besides that, the quality is beyond amazing.

OS: got it free from college!! yay for being a CS major!!

Fans: I added 3 blue lighted cooler master fans to bring light to the tower and also cycle more air through it, not that it needs it, more so just in case. Not listed below.

I would have opted for a 120gb SSD over the 60gb, but other then that a great build. I love the name. +1

Very nice build. I like the part choice and cable management of this rig. It's so nice that I'm gonna give you a cake ( the cake is a lie )

I thought the CM Hyper 212 Evo didn't fit? I bought this case for my girlfriend and I have seen some builds with this cooler and some that say it doesn't fit. Just wondering how it was faring and if it was difficult to mount?

LOL My wife just finished her Phantom 240 build an hour ago. I was going to give her my 212 EVO, but the compatibility warning popped up so I got her the TX3 instead.

Ya that is what I was thinking! Thanks for the reply! I think I will get her the TX3 too! Let me know how it goes!

yes, and no. the cooler(ends of copper tubes) does hit the side of the case, however, it will fit... kinda. like i had to keep the top screw of the side panel undone so it wouldnt put any pressure on the cpu itself through pressure of the cpu cooler. it that makes any sense xD

Ya I know what ya mean! I think I will try to get something else than the Hyper 212 EVO. TX3 or something else.

Heh, Nice name, nice to see Portal on here. Anyway, nice build, I would have just got a higher capacity SSD, but from the looks of it you just want your SSD for windows, which is okay.

exactly! 60gb is just for OS and everything else goes on the 1TB harddrive

I would have chosen the G.Skill Sniper RAM at 1866MHz, which is even slightly cheaper:http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f314900cl9d8gbsr Other than that, good :)

Awesome :)

Smart putting the PC up on the table instead of the floor. Even if I have a super tower I always put it up on a table or something,on the floor it sucks in the dust too fast :(

i wasnt planning on calling it that, but, while i was hooking up everything,as in outside cables and such, it turned on by itself and freaked me out. i was like, "it is alive..." lol
