So i wanted to build a PC. I was looking at part prices, and a lot of the parts i wanted were really expensive. I went to ebay and found like the dream of all dreams PC for sale. The auction was for the Intel Core i7-2600, The ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 ATX Mobo, the 8 gigs of ddr3 1600 patriot viper ram, the CoolMax 800w 80+ Bronze Certified Psu, the NZXT Gamma Case, and the dvd Drive. From there i thought, wow im only $300 into this and i have an i7, and all i really need from here is a cpu cooler, and a graphics card. From there i didnt have to look very far, and i found the R9 280x for $124. I was so excited about that, i had to buy it that second. At first for Gpu's i was looking for some used gtx 680's, or gtx 770's. They are good cards, and the people tho own them are stating to move up to the 900 series of gpu. but any of those gpu's were in the $170's and more. The R9 280x is faster than those cards, and it has more Vram than them. So it only made sense. Before i built this i was using an MSI Ge70 2pe Pro laptop for about 2 years. It can max all the source games like CS:GO. But the AAA Titles weren't getting what i was expecting out of it. On games like GTAV, and Bioshock i was getting around medium low settings and getting around 40fps or so, so it was playable, but it wasnt really what i wanted to be playing at, so i decided to build a desktop.

Ps. Keyboard, mouse, and SSD i was using for my laptop before i built this Pss. Still no hard drive bays, i got creative with mounting. New pictures coming soon!!!

"I got the opportunity to buy a H60 from a friend for about $25. I know i cannot overclock, but it makes my build quieter, and it makes it look so much cleaner

Part Reviews

Fast, This cpu for as old as it is already is really fast. I havent seen the thing go past 50% usage yet, and ive done some pretty heavy use on it. ive seen the thing boost to 3.7 ghz so far so i would recommend if you found the right price for it.

EDIT: So i am able to make it turbo 100% of the time with this cpu. I dont have it turbo at 100%, but i can get it to turbo up to 3.9 GHz and i have seen other people get it to turbo to 4.0Ghz. I really want to see how a K series one would overclock!

CPU Cooler

Really Small and quiet. Case doesn't have the right mounting spots for it, so i made it fit. That is all. Works really well and looks super clean

Mobo with SLI support, has all the bells and whistles. The only thing i wish i had was the hard drive hot swapping, but i will live. it looks nice, and it very easy to use. Bios is very easy to use, and it is very easy to troubleshoot. Has a cmos reset button, which comes in handy

Edit, Had to remove a star. Ethernet port sometimes just doesn't work and i have to use a ethernet card to get wireless now. Also the ram slots are fragile, I accidentally had my watercooler pushing it a little when i tried putting it in, and one of the slots broke. :(

Edit as of 3/26/16, On startup the board gives the error code of missing OS, but when i shut down the computer and switch the dvi connection on my video card, it works just fine for about a week and then starts to do the same thing. Im not sure if its my graphics card, or if its my motherboard, but im mostly sure it is my motherboard as my video card does not do this in any other rig

Its ram, it works, and it looks nice. Not much more to say

large ssd that works in my laptop, and with a $15 adapter, also works in my desktop. its fast, and i havent had any issues with it

faster than i thought it would be. Large, cheap, and very reliable. Its a must have for any build

Video Card

the drivers are easy to install and use. The card is a bit wonky with GTAV, but once i turned down the textures to high, it solved the issues. The card stays very cool and is quiet. I would buy another, but Xfire is soooo bad, its not the cards fault its AMD on this one. For the price it is a very good card

Edit: Still runs cool, but i think one of the fans is dying :( makes a buzz noise when it runs at certain RPM's. If it dies i will post and replace it

Power Supply

its a power supply, i heard bad stories about it when you put a large load on it, so i will probably upgrade soon. But it works for now, and has been running used for 2 years before i bought it.

Edit: Power supply has zero issues. Holds my overclocks steady. is really quiet, and hasn't had any issues. Has survived so many power outs and surges. Looks really nice. I dont see what the issue is with it

Optical Drive

Its a disk drive. its loud and it works i guess.

Beautiful monitor, i will buy another one soon. Looks amazing and is easy to set up

Replace that PSU before it destroys your PC. It is quite a terrible quality PSU.

The PSU ran fine for 2 years before i got it, i doubt that it will destroy anything, but if i get another video card, i will for sure get a new PSU

I would not risk it. that is REALLY pushing it for that terrible of a PSU. If it does fail, it'll likely fry the whole PC. Replace it.

That is one sexy mousepad lol. Also I love the cardboard improvements lol. But seriously, it looks like a pretty solid build. I'm looking into building my first and I am wishing i could get all my parts for that cheap...
