Hello! Thanks for stopping by. This is my first attempt at trying to document my build process. I have always liked computers, and am currently majoring in IT. I have 9 years hardware experience from my time in the navy and working as a copier technician. With all of my time under my belt, I felt that it was long over due for me to build my own pc. I decided around July of 2017 to build, so that’s when I started to research my components.

 I initially was going to go with the pentium g4560, but since this pc was going to be used for more than light gaming I decided I wanted a minimum of a quad core with multi-threading. Now the prices I have posted are not what I paid because I started gathering parts in late August of 2017. The reason I went with the ryzen 5 1400 was due to me winning it in an eBay auction 100 dollars bnib with free shipping, and the gtx1050ti was only 140 dollars when I purchased it in September. All in all I was into the whole pc about 430 dollars.

 I built the pc on my birthday as a gift to myself. First mistake I made was not putting the stand offs in the case for the mobo. I only realized this when the mobo did not line up with the I/o plate. Glad I recognized the issue before I powered up the machine! Second issue I realized I made was going with cheap components. My mindset when I sold the idea of building a pc to my wife was cheap as possible. The case was fairly sturdy, but was lacking cable management (or I was lacking the experience to lol.) the led for the power button was burnt out when I got the case and only realized it after it was fully assembled. The second thing that I did not know was to not skimp on the PSU.

Once the PC was built, unfortunately it sat for a few months as I traveled for work. My coworker at the time was looking to get into pc gaming, and offered me 575 bucks for it. So I sold it, but it is still chugging along with games such as BF1, fortnite, and GTA 5. Maybe some time I will sneak over to his place and get some benchmarks! I really enjoyed building the unit and am currently building PC number two and will post it once I am done with it! As for now, I’ll continue refurbishing thrift shop lap tops to pay for more builds!
