Description

This was my first PC build

UPDATE 2-17-2016

Since my PC just hit a 1 year mark I figured I'd post a quick update. PC is still running great! No parts failed, no issues, still SUPER quiet. Case does get quite dusty inside but I have no issues with cleaning it without the need to pull out any parts.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

I love this CPU fan!!! Very quiet and sexy, but the installation was a nightmare!!! Took me 2 hours, 2 people and building some ungodly contraptions to get it on there, as the case I was using was quite big and I'm a small person. Once it was on there it was on there though and it works as i expected it would!!!

Monitor

Out of the box colors on the monitor were quite washed out, but nothing few tweaks and color profile wouldn't fix. All in all great gaming monitor for the price

I always see these names and immediately think "Pentium G3258 and an R7 250", but this time I'm quite happy to say that this, to me at least, is a beast.

Definitely would love some more pictures.

When I hear Beast I think it should be a minimum of a 6 core i7 and SLI/Crossfire of top end cards. Otherwise, this is a pretty standard high end build. But yes, you are right that it is definitely better than those 'Beast' g3258's or FX-4100's.

you do know that not a ton of programs can even use more than 4 cores.

Ever heart of 'single-core' performance?

Even if programs that you're using are not multi-core capable, your OS can run many single-core processes at once with greater ease if you have more cores.

But I've found that video-encoding and file compression software is usually properly written to be multi-core capable.

When I encode a Blu-ray, all 8 threads of my i7 are active at 100%. Similarly when I compress a file with 7Zip.

where the heck is your psu?

The Air 540 is a Dual Chamber Designed Case. All your actively cooled parts go into one chamber and all your "Passively" cooled components go into a second chamber on the other side of those grommets. I only know this because I'm looking at this case for my eventual build. Great build btw ! +1 for cpu cooler and windforce card!

So that is why it looks so empty inside!

  1. Nowhere does it say she's making a silent build
  2. Nothing wrong with that ram, infact you dont even see it over the cooler
  3. Nothing wrong with that harddrive, WD blue might be more expensive where she is?
  4. This case is still used by many others on this site, it's a modern case with great spacing and airflow.
  5. That's a budget keyboard and 90% of the ratings are 4 - 5 star ratings
  6. You seriously going to hate on thermal paste too?

Y you hating bro
