Description

So I finally upgraded my system off that old Athlon X4 860K. It served me well, but boy was it started to lag behind in some games.

At first I was just going to go Intel, then AMD's Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 hit the market. Ryzen 5 proved to be the much better value over Intel's counterparts, so that's what I went with. I carried some things over from my last build, but I had to buy new RAM as Ryzen only uses DDR4.
I do plan to overclock eventually, and the great thing about AMD's new line of Wraith coolers, I don't have to buy an extra cooler to get at least a modest overclock. Well, as you can see, I finally decided to get a different cooler. I got a good deal on it from work, so that's why I got it. I like it so far.

So far, it's been amazing. My CPU is no longer bottlenecking my GPU at all, and in more CPU intensive games, I don't have to worry anymore. Sure, I'm now on 8GB of RAM over 16, but that's due to how expensive RAM has become. I'll throw in another 8GB stick eventually.

I went for a fully modular power supply this time, and holy crap is it awesome.

Orange was also the theme this time, over blue from last time.

I also decided to go with a triple monitor setup also, and it's beautiful.

Oh, I only paid $177 for the 1500X, but SuperBiiz likes to add a crazy amount for shipping.

Part Reviews

CPU

Better than it's Intel counterpart (the Core i5 7500) in almost every way. Plus so far, it's been amazing.

Motherboard

It's cheap, it's simple, but I can overclock.

Memory

Nothing fancy, it's Crucial, my go to brand, it'll do it's job just fine.

Storage

I'm so upset that ADATA discontinued this line, was my favorite line for budget SSDs.

Storage

My hybrid drive is still going strong, need I say more?

Video Card

She's getting old now. But due to the insane factory overclock on the GHz edition 780, it performs about on par with a 780 Ti. This also has got to be my favorite GPU of all time.

Case

It's cheap and orange. Also has a Window. Not bad in terms of cosmetics, but god is it a ***** to work in.

Mouse

I love this mouse so much I bought a second one for my gaming laptop.

The Tomoko mechanical keyboard. I also have an old Gateway Anykey keyboard, which has cherry MX compatible keyswitches. They're also double shot molded, so I put them on my mech.

What sort of FPS do you get in some games?

GTA V I get about 70ish FPS on high settings. I get about 50ish on high settings in Quantum Break About 90 to 110 in Titanfall 2. I haven't tested much else yet.

Mobo seems good so far, haven't tried overclocking yet. 1500x has been a beast so far.

I think that you should have gotten an a 2x 4GB RAM config so you can get that dual channel memory.

Then it'd have been a waste of money and a kit when I upgrade to 16 later.

Nice build, but why do you prefer wireless mouse instead wired mouses in gaming?

Wireless mice have become good enough to use as a daily driver, especially Logitech mice. Plus I haven’t found a mouse I like the feel of better
