Description

I recently got a promotion to associate producer at the studio I work for and I wanted to celebrate with a pc build that spared no expense....relatively... some of the builds on here are insane! I have been building pcs for about 11 years now. My first pc was had an XFX 9600gt and a Q6600, plus one of those those old thermalTANK... I mean thermaltake armor cases. If you know those parts, congrats you are old. The summer nights I spent playing on that pc inspired me to join the gaming industry. I always dreamed of owning higher end hardware too. I eventually moved on to getting midrange cards. I bought both Radeon and Nvidia cards, but I never could save up enough to get the highest end cards...the cards I really wanted. I also never had the monitor that needed the beasts. My last machine was a small ITX build with a gtx 1060, and a Intel Xeon E3-1231V3. I used the system mostly for 1080p gaming and VR development.

So now that I am not a poor boi, and I am doing what I love, why not live my child hood dream and get the highest end parts? That's what I did.

I love this system. It games on my new ultra wide monitor like a dream. I crush most games at higher than 60fps. Ultra wide is the new standard in my book. Its a game changer! Plus this higher refresh rate monitor really has spoiled me too. I can't go back to 60fps.

I will be updating this page on reviews for parts, and some benchies, but for now I am far too busy gaming =X. I also plan to do some minor cosmetic modifications as well. I like my cables, but my cpu power placement and the combs that the extensions came with suck! so I will be replacing those soon. Pics to follow

This a beautiful build. How does the monitor perform? Is the curve noticeable?

Ty. Curve isn't that noticeable, but its enough. I love the monitor! It is a solid monitor, the stand weighs a ton! I came from a little dinky 24 inch monitor, so this thing is like looking into heaven for me lol. Btw the box it comes in is HUGE! You could basically live inside it if you wanted to.

I have heard of some reports of burn in, which scares me. Here is a really good review of the monitor if you are curious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HmaWcHPBeY&t=916s

I actually work for a serious games studio. Meaning that we make military games for the government and the public. Cubic is the studio name.

Awesome build! Do you have any recommendations on a PC build for game development, but for a person on a budget.

Sure! A lot of how you allocate your budget will depend on what sort of role you want to fill. Something like this would be a pretty good all around for gaming and deving. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CRNQ3b Anything less than $1000 I would recommend just getting some used parts. Key things you want to look for are a CPU with a good number of cores for code compiling, 16 gbs of ram minimum, a decent low to mid range card (unless you are working as a lighting artist or environment designer then I'd I opt for something more powerful), and good NVME ssd for being able to copy assets and launching your engine of choice quickly. For the record you can dev on a potato if you really want, but a build like this will just make your life easier and make things a little snappier.

Awesome build! How is the monitor working for you? I'm debating this monitor over 16:9 1440p monitor. Also, how is the Deepcool Castle 360EX working for you? I'm debating this cooler over the Corsair h150i pro or 115i platinum. Any advise is appreciated!
